A place to return to

We have visited this site twice now, and it is firmly on our return visit list. It is a beautiful spot, in a small field, and very friendly owners. You can walk into Bedale almost entirely on footpaths through fields - it is a very tranquil walk. The site is well looked after, too, and we reckon it is good value. There is a toilet, plenty of leaflets, a map of local walks that you can borrow, and hook ups. Because the field is not huge, and there is a water tap on each side, that is pretty handy too.

stopgap between scotland and home

owners friendly and helpful. i notice that there are only motor homes on the site photo. please note a 4x4 is advisable after heavy rainfall plenty of off road walks all around. there is a local pub in walking distance but if you don't mind a short drive the greyhound inn at hackforth is very nice. toilet on site kept clean by owners with plenty of leaflets on walks, buses, attractions ect. overall a pleasant stay

Close to local pub

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way up to Northumberland. Narrow access to site and site very sloping. Dog friendly pub within walking distance. Road noise wasn't an issue as we went out in the daytime and was quieter in the evening.  There was also a dog walk next to the site.

Well kept site

This is a well kept site and the friendly owner meets you on arrival and explains the site facilities. Some pitches will require levelling blocks and on pitch 4 you may require a step to help you out of your motor home. The area is good for footpaths and you can easily get onto quiet lanes that are suitable for cycling. My one minor point is the traffic noise during the day, it's not over intrusive but is present during daylight hours.

QUAINT LOCATION

The owners are very friendly and informative and give you a lot of information regarding the surrounding area when you make your booking. Sav Nav takes you direct to the site. Access to the grass field (there are no hard standing pitches) is down a narrow driveway passed the owners B&B and cottages. The field is very sloping and levelling blocks are essential. There is a toilet on site which doubles as an information centre. The waste disposal and recycling bins are beside the toilet along with one of the drinking taps. Some of the pitches have their own water tap. We were on pitch 5 which didn’t have it own tap and was a fair distance from the electricity. We had to borrow a further cable from the owner to be able to connect our motorhome. There is a public footpath that runs around the site which is a pleasant walk (providing it hasn’t been raining). There is also a dog friendly pub near. The slight downside to this site is the price £15 per night which I feel is quite expensive for a CL however saying that it would not put me off staying here again.

Brilliant Site

Lovely peaceful site.  10 minute walk to a great dog friendly Pub.  Fish and Chip night on Friday, really good!  Field slopes a little we had a quite a step up into the caravan but well worth it, levelling blocks required. We had a very interesting guided tour of the Watermill a bargain at £3 each. We will definitely be going back.

Great Location

A lovely peaceful site located next to a small river in a rural location. The Mill has been lovingly restored by Lionel and is open to view in full working order on Sunday afternoons for a small fee of £3 . You can even buy the flour ! The site is sloping and we did need levelling blocks . There is a dog walk next to the site and the Bay Horse pub is only a few  minutes walk away,  it is dog friendly and serves lovely home cooked food and you are made to feel really welcome.  We will return to this site,, loved the location.

Fantastic!

WOW! What a fantastic little adult only site! Lionel was not there on our arrival, however there was a board with a welcome message and advising us where to pitch our van. When he did catch up with us the following evening he was most pleasant and informative. The field is on a slope, however with a little manouvering we managed to site the van level. There is a small stream running along the bottom of the field - hence the reason why no children. The facilities are excellent - two fresh water points and a chemical toilet point. Situated in a small shed is a toilet and sink which doubles up as an information room! From the site you can walk through the fields to Bedale (approximately 2½ miles). There are numerous pubs in Bedale and take aways along with a Tesco Express and Co-Op. Ideally situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again!

Peaceful CL in a lovely village

A great site & very tranquil, spot on for visiting this part of North Yorkshire, We were warmly welcomed by Lionel on arrival & all amenities pointed out to us, so much easier than 'hunt the water tap & waste emptying point' ! Just a couple of points to note, don't forget your leveling blocks for under the caravan wheel (side to side leveling not front to back) & the the entrance approaching from Bedale is over the bridge, then 1st right & immediately right again, right on the corner of the turn.
