What a lovely spot!

We had a brilliant holiday here. The site is very conveniently placed for easy access by car to Crich and the beauty spots of Derbyshire. There are pleasant walks from the site: a short stroll across the lane takes you to a little nature reserve with wells, this leads into Wessington Green where there is space to kick a ball about and use outdoor gym equipment. The chippy at Wessington Green fries on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and does really good fish and chips. The site has everything you'd need, and the Elsan point was easy to use without incident, the goats will keep you entertained while you rinse!

A Relaxing stay

The owner has 2 sites, we were on site one which is next to a dusty road (when dry) which leads to other buildings and vehicles using it.. On arrival the owner did not tell us where to pitch, (seems to be 1st come 1st served!!) anything about the site and it wasnt until pay day that any communication was made. Pitches are not over spacious but are well kept and the grass in the centre was short. Sanitizer and recycling available Lovely having a water tap om the pitch, there was a picnic table on each pitch too. The lake was a short distance away which the fishermen enjoyed. and the site is next to a public footpath, handy for walkers. Plenty of places to visit including Ogston and Butterley Reservoirs and Carsington Water. Entertained by the lambs and goats was a bonus!! This site is in a beautiful area and yes, we would return.

Rare long weekend away!

We loved this site. Approach lane is narrow, but quite enough not to be a problem. Never had any problems pitching up unlike other reviewers, but then we never saw the post I read about. Each pitch with direct water supply and at a bargain price, all on hard-standing, so all year round is not a problem. Nice location, village with good Fish and Chip shop and a decent pub all within walking distance if weather suits you. Nice farm and owners with well looked after facility’s. We booked a return visit while we were there.

Good site but now difficult to pitch up

We have used this site regularly but on our last visit in February 2016 we had great difficulty turning and pitching up due to random fence posts. These post have been erected to stop cars Catching the edge of the grass. You have to be very careful if you have a long outfit or if there are other caravans on site. Real shame and we hope they will be removed. Lovely CL though.

January Visit

This site has 5 hardstanding pitches with a water tap by each pitch. It has a wide, but rather rough entrance & was easily access being less than 1/2ml off the A615 Alfreton/Matlock road. The site looks towards the south west over fields towards Wingfield Manor. There are a number of footpaths close to the site, but it was too wet to use them while we were there. Alfreton, 4 mils away,  has a Tesco, with petrol, and a Lidl for one's shopping. The site is ideal for visiting such places as Matlock and Crick, and not too far from the Derbyshire Dales. We will definitely us the site again when the weather is better.

Excellent!!!

Just returned from our New Year break at this great CL. All well drained  hard standing pitches. (Rained for 3 days none stop but no sanding water or sludge). Water tap for each pitch. Lovely views across the countryside. Plenty of places to visit eg.  Matlock, Chatsworth, Bakewell etc. Had 2 great meals in the Royal Oak only 5 minute drive away. We will definitely visit in the sumer when we can explore the local footpaths.  Excellent value at £12 per night.

Wonderful Weekend

Just got back from two nights here. Each pitch has its own hook up, water and a picnic table, which is a nice touch. We were there to attend a family wedding at The White Hart Hotel just down the lane. It is very convenient for that and I would highly recommend it to anyone else in the same position. We are originally from the area so spent the next day visiting relatives. it is near lots of places of interest. The Hose and Jockey at Wessington is an easy 10 minute walk for a pint and I would highly recommend the chippy at Wessinton. The best fish and chips we've had in ages. Be prepared to queue though! The night sky was very clear as there is no light pollution and we even heard a night-jar sing. We would use this site again.

A return to Derbyshire

Situated on a working farm so always quite busy but the views were lovely We use to live in Derbyshire so this was a visit 'home' the site is very well situated for all places of interest and the local fish and chip shop which only opens on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is a must There were three hard standings and when there were three vans on space was very tight so really only suitable for two on the hard standings. The owner told us that he is planning to put another two hard standings in this year Whilst we were there the electrics were upgraded so no cut outs. Overall that really good location

First timers

This was our first time caravan holiday....we hired a Coachman Wanderer from a Leicester based firm and drove up to this location where we met our friends who have regularly visited this site with their Van. One word.....Wonderful.... the weather , the views even having to do the the chores of emptying the loo , getting water ...walking to the Horse and Jockey for an evening pint ....was wonderful......we shall definitely be coming back ...and this time with our very own Van ...because this short stay has wetted our appetite and cant wait to explore CL sites in our home county of Kent ....
