Lovely CL

We came here 10 years ago , still the same but the pot holes had been filled in which was much better the field is flat with the usual cold water tap and chemical disposal point a very tidy site , we put our money in the envelope provided and put it through the letter box as instructed we did not see the owner but that did not bother us , it absolutely poured down with heavy rain on Tuesday night but the ground was fine , loads of walks in the area , a lovely church to visit just up the road , snape maltings is not far away with all the shops to look around and have a bite to eat , we had fish and chips in Aldeburgh and a lovely walk by the river , we will be back

A SECLUDED SITE IN RURAL SUFFOLK

We returned to the site after a break of about five years. It is as welcoming as always and for those of you who remember it from about five years ago great news the access road has been smoothed out, no more pot holes just a well drained level farm access road. We had a short break (4 nights) and were able to acheive a reasonable length walk on each of the days inspite of heavy rain on the afternoon and evening of the Saturday. The rain was such that it would have caused flooding on some sites but the sandy soil copes with whatevever the elements throw at it and drains perfectly. The walk to Alburgh via the sailors path is a standard for this area but if doing it take the opportunity to visit the open access land to the east of blackheath wood the views across to the Alde Estuary are worth the detour. There are plenty of walks from the site both towards Snape and Alburgh and also towards Glenham and Friston all are clearly marked on the OS map and the going is easy with no steep inclines or hills. The little petrol station/CoOp store just up from the site on the main road ( walk up the Gromford Lane towards the church} is well stocked and seemed to be reasonable pricewise. This is a good base to use if visiting the Suffolk coast / heathlands and would recommend it highly.

Our Suffolk safari!

An ideal base for our plans to explore the coastal region of Suffolk. We visited Aldeburgh, Snape, Woodbridge, Southwold and Walberswick. Walked miles and enjoyed lots of peace and privacy. Croft Farm is everything we wanted in a CL with level fields and walks from site including the farm nature trial as well as plenty of options for beach and coastal walks in the area. We hope to return soon.

Peaceful Site

We stayed for 2 nights, but wish we could have stayed for longer! The 5 pitches are spread out so there’s plenty of room for each one. Lovely level surface to pitch up on. Very friendly neighbours, and no noise apart from the crows🤣 Basic site, (which is what we like),contactless payment. We visited Thorpeness and Rendlesham Forest which were fantastic! We were so lucky with the weather, sunny the whole time!! Will definitely return.

Autumn break

Had 3 nights at Croft Farm. The site is very level and well drained - it hammered down a couple of times during my stay but the sandy soil meant it never got deep or slippery. Perfect all year round site. Well placed for Aldeburgh and Framlingham, as well as Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge. No contact with owner, other than a brief phone call to ensure I was in the right place. Payment via envelopes through the letter box. Facilities basic but functional.

Good level site, facilities fine, some issues on cycling

The site is level, and facilities were good, including a large soakaway for waste water. Hand san was not provided by the taps or emptying point,s as has been done on other sites we have visited this summer. We did not meet the owner, but payment was contactless with details supplied via envelopes. The site is very near Snape Maltings, and also Friday Street farm shop. Saxmundham, the nearest town has two busy supermarkets, Waitrose and Tesco, but the rest of the town we found disappointing, feeling rather rundown and tired. Roads proved something of a problem. We decided to walk to the farm shop, but the last section along the A1094 was hazardous. For cycling there is a quiet lane to Snape, but the surface has been dressed with chippings which have never bedded down in the centre, so is potentially dangerous for bikes, especially on downhill stretches. Since the A1094 is so busy, access to anywhere by bike is via Snape, from where there is a nice route along quiet lanes to Orford, but access to villages inland entails crossing the A12, which is not at all easy.

First class as usual

We have visited Eddie at Craft Farm many times over the years. Our latest visit was recently, soon after the lifting of lock-down. Another first class stay. Very quiet, loys to do. A super local pub, The Golden Key and look out for the bats arriving at dusk! Great walks all locally and very close to the ocean. Well done Eddie. We shall return!!!

First Class Everytime

Every time we visit. Croft Farm comes up trumps. Clean, smart, quiet, ample power and adequate facilities. This time in our new motorhome and the hottest day in the UK ever. Thank you Eddie and the team at Croft Farm. We will return.

Even good weather is provided free of charge!

This was our first visit to Suffolk with the intention of visiting Aldeburgh for Benjamin Britten. The region is fantastic and cycling into Aldeburgh and the coast is a lovely way to spend the day. The local villages are all accessible along back roads that are straight out of the 1950s! Croft Farm is great, it is really flat and the grass CL is absolutely fine even for a paranoid motorhomer who worries about getting stuck on every grassy field. The CL is really well set up and provides everything you need for a great holiday including some glorious weather. We look forward to returning in the future.
