Perfect Base for Touring An Ignored Area in The Borders (Scotland/England)

Not much to add to the previous reviewer except that we probably were happier as it suited as down to the ground. We also arrived in rain and were thankful for the hard standing as the grassy areas were quite soft due to this summers rainfall. We enjoyed the nearby pub every day but you need to know food is available only Fri-Sun. Very good for the prices charged. The site had all we needed which was water, waste disposal and hook-up electricity. It is an agricultural, animal rearing area and we enjoyed our vista of green fields and calves antics within. We were there to research the family tree so visited many small cottages and small townships with attached churches. We went down to Hadrians Wall and Lanercost Priory which were busyier but otherwise we seemed to be the only tourists around the site. The owner and evertybody else we met were very friendy once they realised you were not a potential sheep rustler. We would look suspicious as we took an interest in houses and photographed them. There are quite a few paths signposted but due to underuse they are mostly now difficult/impossible to follow without GPS/OS maps. In wet weather we would advise not to bother even trying. In summary we search out quiet places far from the madding crowd and this was ideal. We will return.
