Peaceful, quiet site . Perfect !

Beautiful view of the sheep and cows in the field opposite, it's a lovely and peaceful, we had a fab couple of days here and will definitely be visiting again, it's a great base for exploring the area. The directions we were emailed were easy to follow and we had no issue finding the site and getting parked up. It was a bonus for us not to have a phone signal - no calls from work while we're on holiday !! Thank you !

Idyllic spot

We stayed at Crosslands for 3 nights on our way to Scotland. The site is so peaceful and had beautiful views all around. The hedgerow and field animals were so amusing, and in our 2 days we saw such wonderful places and amazing scenery. Thank you so much!

Best CL so far on this tour, A Gem of a place.

If you want real peace and tranquility but still within easy reach of all the Lake District attractions then this is the place for you. We arrived here three days ago and only intended a two night stop but we are going to stay a few days longer as its lovely. It is extremely quiet, you could hear a pin drop here in the dead of night if there is no wind. Lovely views and walks from the site. Michelle my Wife, did High Dam the other day which you can do directly form the CL (Small tarn / lake and summer swimming spot up in the hills). We are in a 7m motorhome but we carry a scooter on the back so its ideal for us to travel around some of the most stunning areas in the Lakes. Just a 15 min ride to the ferry across Windermere, Hawkshead, Amblside, Consiton etc all in easy reach as are to the south Cartmel and Grange over Sands. The roads here though between Coniston and Windermere are narrow and take a bit of getting used to but we are finding our way now. Please please please though take notice of the carefully provided instructions from Anne and David and follow them to the letter (very easy really) as to how to get here and do not rely on the sat nav. The road from the south up to the CL is totally fine though as long as you stick to it. Its a very quiet road and in the four miles or whatever it is from the main road we never met a single car but it wouldnt have been a big issue if we had. Spot on! We will return for sure.

Really liked this site. Will definitely make a return visit at some point.

Nice little spot. Thoroughly recommended. Owner was very friendly & responded to emails within 24 hours. No mobile signal on Three. Other people have commented that Vodafone is ok but I haven't tested that. Like most CL's, it is a working farm & is surrounded by other working farms, so expect a bit of farm traffic. We went early July & there were regular tractors driving past the site with hay bails, so I guess it was hay season. Very quiet at night. As for most locations in the Lake District, the access roads around the site are a little narrow, especially if you have a big caravan, but you are going to have this issue wherever you go. The site is split across 2 fields. The main CL which looked very tidy & well kept, then a second "overflow" field about 100m or so away on the opposite site of the road. We stayed in the second as the main CL was full. Both sites have electric hook ups. If staying in the overflow, there are 3 sockets near the gate..........make sure you have a long lead with you! My biggest annoyance was that there was no chemical disposal point in the second site. You have to put the toilet tank in the boot of the car & drive it across to the main CL to empty it. To be fair, it would probably cost too much to install, maintain & keep emptying a second chemical pit. I guess that the ultimate test is whether or not I would make a return visit & stay there again.......yes I would!

Very peaceful site

Lovely peaceful site in beautiful area. Levelling blocks are essential on every pitch. No TV signal and no phone signal for Three network but perfect for Vodaphone. CDP had no water hose although there was a no drinking water tap further down the site all about access to supplies I guess Lovely walks from site. Access roads very narrow but doable with care..

Beautiful peaceful site

Great site, good location and dog friendly. Access roads from A590 are narrow but passable even with large motorhome. Warm Cumbrian welcome and directions to pitch. Hardstanding pitches helped and there are plenty of electric points. TV reception reasonable. Really nice walk from site up to surrounding fells. Will stay again!

Lovely quite site

Review Crosslands What a lovely little campsite, so quiet and out of the way but also close enough to explore all of the Lake District. Great directions from the owner so we found them easily! We’re in a medium sized campervan and had no trouble down the lovely windy roads, bit tight in places when there was on coming traffic but not an issue most people moved out of the way and we shared the roads! The pitches were a good size for us, we also used our canopy and did not feel too close to other pitches. I guess if we had a large outfit eg car caravan awning we may feel closer but the other campers were all caravans at the time we stayed and most of them had stayed before with no problems. there’s an open grassed area at the bottom which plenty of people chose to use and this appeared to be more spacious. We met lots of friendly campers and would definitely go back there again 😄glad we ignored the negative reviews as these nearly put us off visiting! Perfect campsite 👌

A real treat!

We had an extended stay at Crossroads farm with David and Anne, our Hosts. It was an absolute delight to stay here and we cannot wait to get back. The site itself is lovely and rural, with great views across the valley and of the Lakeland mountains. We often saw red deer in the evening whilst sitting out enjoying the tranquility of this site. We also we're lucky enough to spot Osprey, buzzards and one red kite. Walks from the site are plentiful and varied and the owners are extremely knowledgeable about the area and more than willing to share this with you. We did many bike rides too, from easy country lanes to more challenging rides in Grisedale forest and again right on the doorstep. High Dam is a fantastic spot for wild swimming, kayaking etc and only a short stroll from the site. We cannot praise David and Anne highly enough. They really are the best Hosts. We stayed on the grass area in our motorhome and it was lovely and spacious with amazing views all round. The valley is a special place to be. You will not be disappointed. Deb and Jon

Beautifully secluded

Well off the beaten track, very peaceful and quiet, lovely views. Owners very helpful. No TV or phone, site basic - all of which we wanted! The directions in the handbook are fine and probably the only safe way to get there towing a van. Although the approach from the main A590 road over several miles is long and occasionally narrow, the only real problems are at the start (after you leave the main road where there is a narrow blind hill), and at the end after turing into the road to Crosslands Farm. There isn't anywhere to stop at the farm without blocking the road, so you can either do this or continue to the site which is about 200 yards further on and where there is plenty of room to turn. Don't do what we did which was to try to pull in opposite the farm, where there is a low roof which we collided with causing some damage
