As good as always

We have been using this CL several times a year for over fifteen years and keep coming back at various times during the year because we can unwind fully. With the hedge getting ever bigger and the A1 moving even further away from the site, this CL even gets quieter as time goes on. We noticed on our recent visit in mid-August that the 'warden' was even more helpful than usual. One 'mature' couple had trouble getting their van level and the warden carefully and patiently guided them to the best spot and made sure they were settled in. Another 'mature' couple were also helped when the man (in his mid eighties ) had an accident when off-site and had to see a doctor and return home for a couple of days leaving his partner on-site. The warden arranged help with topping up her water and generally supporting her, with other fellow caravan users offering help - after all isn't that what being a CC member means ! We just could not understand the recent negative review, which we had read before we travelled on this latest visit. We did have some concerns but as can be seen we had no need for them.

Good CL

We were surprised by some of the previous reviews. We've just had three days at Deepdale and it was lovely. The chap that guided us on was very pleasant and friendly- told us to pitch where we fancied. Plenty of electric bollards (16amp) and drinking water taps. Good value at £11 a night.

Lovely setting enjoyed the wild life After some minor disasters en route such a relief to arrive at a peaceful place and the site owners were more than helpful in making our stay comfortable, would definitely stay there again.

Dreadful site to be avoided at all costs

I wish that we had to read these reviews before coming to this site. The site itself is very nicely kept but having met the wardens and all their numerous signs about absolutely everything it's a wonder people are allowed to walk on the grass.  The warden is certainly rude and obnoxiousness  which is quite a shame as the owner of the site is very lovely.  We will not be returning to this site and would recommend anybody who enjoys caravanning to avoid  this site at all costs.  We   used to come to this site when my four children were growing up and the owners then could not do enough for us and she still remembers us from then.   Unfortunately she appears to have employed the wrong warden and people will not return to this site because of him and him alone .

Worst CL ever visited

Whilst being invited to join my relations for a bbq as a visitor to this site we werevmet by the most obnoxious jobs worthy warden ever. His inter personal skills over a matter that we had not reported at the CL owners house were to say absolutely appauling. Despite trying to tell him that we had only come to tell my relations that we would meet them in Richmond. I did however stay at this CL 2 years ago and the same warden continually watched what we were doing. He also out of ear shot mutter offensive words about another caravan couple who did not park exactly as he wanted. I am sure that he has lost the site owners much custom due to his abrasive manner. I certainly will not be returning and none of our extended  family will who have 4 caravans will be visiting.

Don't visit this site if...

Don't visit this site if you want a peaceful and relaxing time. On arrival we missed the sign advising report first to the owner and drove onto the site. We were surprised as the warden suddenly appeared saying can't you read the sign on the gate. He was extremely rude and overbearing, telling us then there are no rubbish facilities and would have to dispose of them ourselves, we can't park near the caravan and wouldn't allow disposal of grey water into the drain. No explanations given. He continued to stalk me whilst setting up, interfering with sarcastic remarks, not a pleasant man or relaxing situation. Finally complaining to the site owner with the warden following in my wake he became extremely animated and aggressive trying to intimidate me by facing me off. The owners response was that this was his nature and that he was like that with them too. This ruined our weekend here and will never return to what on our previous visit was a relaxed place to go.

If you value good manners give the new Site Warden a wide berth

We visited this CL for the first time during October 2014 enjoying a relaxing three nights on this lovely site. The owner Mrs Smith is a very pleasant lady and made us very welcome. All change for our second visit during October 2015 since the appointment of a new Site Warden. Our friends arrived with their caravan 30 minutes after our arrival. Unfortunately there are 5 signs on the entry gate and our friends missed the one very important sign demanding that they must nor enter site until reporting at the bungalow. I didn't think this should have been a major problem as Mrs Smith had already, very pleasantly, shown me to our pitch and pointed out our friends pitch. Our friends were greeted by the wrath of George "have you reported at the bungalow yet the sign is big enough on the gate". Probably not the best choice of words to be greeted with but tone of voice and body language were appalling. I had always understood that one of the minimum services a CL should provide is "dry rubbish disposal". Site Warden instructed us that the site does not provide facilities for rubbish disposal. "It's only 5mins walk to public bins adjacent to Cattrick Caravans". On arrival we were told to leave our vehicles off site to protect the grass as it had rained heavily 3 days before. There was no evidence that my 2500kg AWD and 1700kg caravan had touched his grass on the way onto the pitch. Position of car was not negotiable he even positioned cones at the entrance when we went out for the day. A bit laughable now, as thinking back he cut the WET GRASS in front of our caravan at 3pm on Sunday. After numerous snipes, from the Site Manager, it was necessary for us to request that the owner call George off and give us some space for the remainder of our visit. During the request, in front of the owner, the Site Warden, in my opinion, demonstrated aggressive behaviour by, with raised voice, walking towards my friend, more than once, invading his personal space. Not the relaxing enjoyable caravanning we have enjoyed during our other 94 nights away this year.
