Peaceful clearing in the woods

We stayed at this site for two nights in early December whilst visiting Pitlochry. The two main sites in the town were closed for winter and this site was the closest and is handily open all year. Pitlochry is around a 15-20 minute drive away. The site is accessed directly from the A924 via a gate and comprises a flat grassy surface surrounded by trees. Apparently it was an old quarry (although you'd never know it) so although the surface is grass, there is solid roack underneath. Despite heavy rains and snow during the previous few days, we had no problem accessing the site. At the site there is an information board with details of how to pay and some walks, a tap and cess disposal. Bins and full recycling facilities are available at the estate entrance, only 100m or so to the east. Although the site is right next to the A924, this is not a very busy road at all. The site is screened by very tall trees and you can also pitch towards the rear, where you will probably not notice the road at all. The downside of the A924 being a quiet road is that it is quite narrow in many places, particularly when approaching from Blairgowrie. If you are considering a visit the Pitlochry approach is slightly easier. We would certainly recommend the site and will be visiting again.
