Peace and tranquility - not

Second time we have stayed here and unfortunately on both occasions it has been noisy with farm machinery and barking dogs in the farmhouse. I understand it is a working farm - I also understand that dogs bark as I have dogs myself but to say it is peaceful and tranquil is not true. Brilliant views and very pleasant owner but if it’s peace and quiet you are looking for them this isn’t the place for you.

perfect for us!

Dodford Lodge Farm ticked all our boxes - remote, great views, walks and cycling directly from the site and on a real farm. We even got to see the harvest being brought in. Adrian couldn't be more helpful. Would love to visit again!

Peace & tranquility

Just stayed a couple of nights on our way to the West county from Yorkshire ,as it’s easy for us using the M18,A1,A46 and M1. We will be seeing Adrian again in a few weeks. The picture of the site doesn’t do it justice, best view we’ve ever seen. Directions are a bit misleading, the turning into the lane is off the A5 just past the roundabout from Weedon(2nd left not the 1st). Beautiful views all around ,peaceful ,no traffic noise, and Adrian is very welcoming and helpful. George July and September 2023

A lovely friendly site to stay

We chose to book here for our first campsite stay in our new to us first caravan as we wanted to try out our caravan to make sure things were working and how to set it up. I am so pleased that we chose this site. Adrian the owner is a lovely, friendly guy. The site is small, with 5 pitches, but has fantastic country views. It is also very quiet as well. Our pitch was a grass and fully serviced with EHU, water and waste disposal on the pitch as well. A worthwhile trip as we couldn't get our fridge to work! Adrian came to the rescue though, as he let us use a fridge in a nearby outbuilding and we're very grateful for the use of this. We only live 15 minutes away, but wouldn't hesitate to come back again for a change of scenery. I would highly recommend staying here 👍.

Wonderfully in the middle of nowhere

We booked for a week as I had an event to visit close by in Daventry. The pitches are huge and level marked out by fence posts about 12 to 15 metres apart, except for the end pitch, which we took, that is not limited and so you have as much space as you could sensibly want. It's all meadow grass, cut sensibly short (but not an ornamental lawn) and is on a well draining base, so in dry weather, you'll probably need rock pegs for an awning. In late June, we certainly did!! Each pitch has 16A EHU, fresh water and a grey water drain, all positioned close enough to use without needing any extensions or extra length hoses. Entertainmnet is provided each morning by a large number of Hares that race around and by an Owl who seems to roost close by. Access is "interesting". The lane from the A5 is a little rough and narrow; 25mph is too fast. But the gravel track to the farm is in mych better condition, reasonably smooth with little or no ruts. It's only used by farm traffic and the postie, so little chance of meeting anyone. Elsan desposal is on the edge of the site, using a toilet pan sunk into the ground. It's simple, but it does the job. Adrian, the site owner is friendly and laid back about payment "as long as you pay before you leave, that's fine". There are a variety of things in the area, but it is ideal for a location to just chill out. The nearby farm shop is well worth a visit. Or, in other words, a perfect CL. I'm sure we'll return one day.

Peaceful

We really loved this CL and just wish we’d booked for a lot longer - we will definitely return. It was very quiet and peaceful with a charming owner.

Peaceful, friendly and pretty as a picture.

We've stayed here a couple of times now and each time has been nothing but a joy. The views are breath taking, the site is very peaceful and tranquil and the host, Adrian, is one of the most accommodating and friendly you will meet. We only live about 12 miles away but come here for the odd "weekend escape" with our motorhome and even though it's local we could be in the middle of the west country with the rolling hills and views. Lots of walks, bike rides from the site and a local village pub about 11/2hr away. We've seen wildlife we wouldn't normally see, buzzards, hares boxing, deer skipping about, swifts etc all from the luxury of a camp chair. A gem of a CL site and well worth a visit.

Dodford Lodge Farm

We have just returned from a wonderful six days at this beautiful CL which has far reaching panoramic views over the Northamptonshire countryside from its vantage point high on a hill. Adrian tirelessly working on the farm it could not have been more helpful or informative. The CL is ideally placed to visit many places of interest in the area, including Althorp and Silverstone together with other stately home properties. We shall certainly return and cannot recommend the site enough to enjoy the peace, views and the places of interest to visit in the area.

Excellent CL in a rural location

The rural location of this CL makes for a quiet and tranquil stay. There was some farm traffic movement but that's to be expected on a working farm during a very busy harvest time but it certainly didn't intrude. There are abundant walks from the site for the dog, including a hard surface byway which is ideal if the weather isn't as dry as it could be. The serviced pitches are well spaced with waste disposal and recycling/rubbish bins to one side of the site. The fish and chips from The White Horse at Norton lived up to their reputation. Ideal site to potter around the local area or as a base to travel further afield. Very obliging host in Adrian who provided the directions and any other information we required. Would definitely recommend.

A perfect place to stay

We needed a location to stay over for a weekend family visit and this fitted the bill. As suggested please take the directions offered by the owners and NOT what your Sat Nav may tell you. Easy to find, the farm track is well maintained and the pitch vista is uninterrupted from left to right. Yes you can just about see parts of the A5 and A45 but compared to most of built up UK it was silent. All the expected facilities are on hand and the tv reception was excellent. You will pitch on the top of a very slight slope. Would suggest going to the Heart of the Shires Shopping Centre if you want some retail therapy as it is only 5 mins away on the A5. We would certainly use it again for another family stay over.
