Good Standard, separated by a low fence from commercial site. The CL could do with another Electric Post as there only 2 with 3 hookups on 1 and 2 hookups on the other. If another post was installed near the Fence it would be ideal and allow full use of the area. Whilst the site fees are good I’m not a fan of the prepay for electric I would rather pay an inclusive price and not have to worry about running out of power especially in more modern vans, if the power goes down it can mess with the van system. Albeit this didn’t happen but we ran our heating and hot water on gas. £10 credit lasted from Thursday 6ish till Monday 12:30ish
The owners asked us to vacate at 12 noon at 11.50 we didn’t realise this was a stipulation. We had already started to pack up but could have been a challenge otherwise
Good bin area 10/10
Good water quality 10/10
Good well mowed grass 10/10
TV signal good directional to Sutton Coldfield 10/10
View from CL 7/10
Bit of road noise 7/10

A well organised site
We joined friends on this site and parked at the top of a large field with great views and plenty of space for our dogs. Water, electric and chemical disposal were all excellent.
The site is ideally placed for sightseeing - there is a bus stop right outside - and some great walks from the site. You don’t need to move your van unless you prefer to. We enjoyed Harold Staunton Reservoir and Calke Abbey for two.
The only problem with the site is noise - airplanes from East Midlands airport went overhead from the early hours, traffic noise could be intrusive too, as was the work going on on the larger site alongside the CL though the latter is probably only temporary.
Fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend Stay
What a gem of a CL. Arrived to a lovely big field, beautiful views and the kids and adults enjoyed watching the planes coming into land. Staunton Harold Reservoir a short walk away, disappointingly though no cycling. Cycled into Ticknall (but be warned it is hilly). Had a drink and chips at The Wheel Inn who were very friendly. We also attended the local art festival which is well worth a visit, we even purchased a couple of pieces. Owners of the campsite were very helpful and friendly, we will certainly be back for more exploring. Thank you
Amazing caravan site
We stayed at Dovesite caravan park in Melbourne and could not have been so pleased staying there. We were met by the owner and he is a really nice man,we were told we could arrive early and leave late which was brill.Normally at most caravan parks, you have to be there not before
a certain time ,and leave by 12 noon,so we got to Dovesite around 11 Friday morning, and left
at 4.15 on Sunday afternoon,so we had a full day out on Sunday, the site has views to die
for, spotlessley clean ,its so quiet ,so thank Julie-Ann we will definitely be back soon,we think
its a such a gem caravan site.
Best Regards

Immaculately kept CL
This site has a designated CL area as well as pitches for non members. Immacultely manicured grass. Both grass and gravel pitches available. Recycling facilities, CDP, Although this site is next some industrial units we visited midweek and did not hear any noise. there are regular planes going over from nearby airport but not too noisy to disturb. Direct walk to the nearby reservoir which has a visitors centre and a children's play park as well as a lovely walk around the reservoir. Close to Donnington park so ideal if you are attending an event there. Several places of interest within easy reach

Dovesite
We found this site misleading. Not a traditional CL as it is part of a commercial site with up to 25 pitches. Its also adjacent to a business park and industrial units which are not mentioned. Not sure what this would be like mid week but not the small secluded setting we expect from a CL site. Also the CL site is not open all year as advertised so pitches only available on the commercial site-again, not what was expected or desired. It was however spacious and room for the dogs to run.
Lovely site!
This is a very well run site by the friendly helpful owners. We stayed on the CL for 10 days in August and we are returning in October. It is an easy walk to Staunton Harold reservoir and we also walked into Melbourne, a lovely small town with restaurants cafés and shops. Melbourne Hall and gardens (with great Tea Room) are well worth a visit although the hall is only open in August. Calke Abbey, Ticknall, and Donington Park are some of many places of interest. The views from the site towards Breeden Hill are impressive. There is some aircraft noise but it didn't bother us at all and we enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Great location for our cycling and sightseeing
We were welcomed by Julie-Ann and the local information explained to us. The site is very clean and with the adjacent site, there was plenty of spaces to choose from. We walked to Melbourne and shopped at the local supermarket. The site is equidistant from Melbourne and Ticknal where there are some nice restaurants / cafes and plenty of walks in well maintained footpaths.
Some people may object to the aircraft noise from East Midland but this was infrequent and not at night.
Cycled to Calke Abbey and were pleased to told bikes were free to enter. Cycled to Donington race track along some fairly pleasant roads. Will definitely return here for the next race meeting.

Doningto Park and Calke Abbey visits
We tried to book four nights on the CL to attend a show at Donington Park but the CL area was full and we were offered a pitch on the adjacent commercial area at £11 p.n. exclusive of electricity which is charged for by card meter. This we accepted not knowing really what to expect especially as the site is part of a small rural industrial area. Don’t let this put you off because the site is a gem and if the industrial area is used you wouldn’t know it. The site is divided into three areas, the CL, a 25 pitch low facilities commercial site and a rally field. Each area, while being adjacent, are separated by open wood fencing. The commercial area is accessed via a gravel track and 10 of the 25 pitches are hard standings, some of which are used as seasonal pitches. There are fine views from almost anywhere on this hill top site which overlooks the Staunton Harold reservoir beyond which, in the distance can be seen Breeden Hill on top of which the silhouette of church breaks the skyline. There is good access to dog walking and it is an easy walk through a field down to the reservoir’s visitor centre, but sadly the café was not open on the occasions we visited after some very enjoyable walks in the adjacent scenic countryside. Nearby is Calke Abbey and its estate which is well worth a days visit. The nearby town of Melbourne with its narrow streets lies is a short distance away and has full facilities but was not particularly inspiring. The only thing marring what is otherwise and excellent site, is it lies in the flight path of the East Midlands airport and there is some aircraft noise which may disturb light sleepers or those looking for absolute peace and quiet.
Beautiful views
We have recently returned from this site. We could not get on the CL but we were offered a pitch on the site alongside. Ideal for us with 2 dogs, plenty of areas to walk. Only up the road from the lovely village of Melbourne. Lovely meal at Gelsbourne a few miles away & easy access to the site. View over Staunton Harold Reservoir & you can even have a cup of tea & cake at Peggy's by the Reservoir. Ducks & Gees galore to feed on the shore. Ashby, Loughborough not far away. Electric meter no problem it only cost us a £1 per day & we had the heating on.
