Far from the madding crowd.

Spent a glorious week at this lovely quiet adult only CL situated on the edge of the Forest of Bowland although it rained for most of our stay. We were on pitch 1 which in my opinion was the best, plenty of room for car, caravan and porch awning and well drained throughout in spite of torrential rain for a few days. The fully serviced pitches were well spaced out and the whole site was in pristine condition with beautifully mown grass and all had fantastic views towards Pendle Hill. The large barn behind the site had well stocked information including pub walk leaflets and also DVDs and books - this also housed the toilet and shower. Ann was extremely friendly and obviously took pride in her beautiful site visiting every day to ensure all was well. We encountered deer daily on the drive leading to the farm which was a delight and there were many walks from site, our favourite being Bradford Fell which was accessed from the top of the lane where you could walk for miles without meeting anyone. During our stay, we also explored Gisburn Forest where there are many walks and cycle trails, the Trough of Bowland and even visited Morecambe to see if Eric could bring us sunshine! Clitheroe was a stones throw away and a visit to the Sausage shop is a must. This is an area we have never visited before and look forward to returning again in the near future.
