This is a great CL. It is right on the river in Durham and has five pitches all with hard standing. You are a 10 minute walk along the river to the town.Three of the pitches overlook the river and the other two are at the side. This is a busy rowing club and the car park can get full when rowing is on. There is an alternative entrance at the back of the CL if the car park is full as you will not be able to get to the pitches. The pitches are right next to the car park but we found it was empty most of the time. The clubhouse does hold functions as well but these were not particularly noisy when we stayed. Access to the clubhouse is a good bonus as it has toilets, showers, and a bar. Access is restricted between 0900hrs and 2200hrs as they deadlock it overnight. You can get a fob from the cub staff. You also get free fast wifi and we got the code ahead of arrival by e-mailing the site. The rowing club members were also very friendly. I would recommend this site if you are coming to the North East as it is great value.. It may not suit those who want peace and tranquility all the time but we enjoyed watching the rowers.
