Fully serviced pitches well spaced hard standing

We stayed for 8 days here. We like to use our own facilities and prefer out of the way places so this CL suited us as the fully serviced pitches made life easier. There is a road behind the hedge with light traffic and some farm vehicles but it was quite during the night. We didnt expect a greeting and there was none but contact via email with the owners to book was good, and the owner called to confirm everything as there was an issue with something. There are envelopes and a letter box to post money into on a small kiosk presumably housing the electic fuses etc. We didnt see the owners but we were out most days. There is a walk marked on a map to the beach/pub (High Newton?) but we didnt work this out. The site is well laid out. The place is basically sitting in a field so I dont understand why the EHU terminals have lights on them, this is probably why the council is objecting to the hardstandings (they cant object about the CL itself.) as some houses across the field. It was very wet when we were there and the grass was a bit soggy. The hardstandings stayed dry. We had the place to ourselves for a few days midweek but was up to capacity at the weekend. Good location for lovely beaches and touring the area, Alnick (pronounced Annick, well I didnt know...), Seahouses Craster Beadnal and Bamburgh all easy reach. The Greys Inn pub in Embleton is a welcoming locals place with decent pub food. The host was friendly and they are very dog friendly. We left ours in the car as busy with a darts match and then the local football on the TV. We visited the Joiners Arms a few times. Its a "Gastro Pub" with a decent range on the menu. Again very dog friendly. Our neightbour told us the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel was well worth a visit but we didnt. The Landing at Beadnall Bay was good for a dog friendly breakfast and coffee. Also visited Craster and Seahouses smokehouses for kippers. The Seahouses ones were the best overall and had a good range of other fresh and smoked fish. The Fish Shack in Amble was well worth a visit (with your dog). We had an issue with the car and can reccomend the local garage in Embleton.

Lovely site, nice location for walking to beach

Just stayed 3 nights at EBCL, great hardstanding for this time of year, water at pitch and good EHU. Other facilities are fine. Private track to beach takes 20 mins to walk but its a lovely walk and Embleton beach is fab. Local village has a great village shop and is only 5 minute walk away but I wouldnt walk it at night. Lots of local history and all in all a nice 3 day stay. Owner met us on arrival which was pleasant, site easy to find and only a short distance from main road.

Pleasant Stay

We stayed for 3 nights as part of our Northumberland Coastal adventure. Good clean site with ehu, grey waste, chemical waste and general rubbish bin. Would have like to have seen recycling rubbish facilities. 1.5 miles walk to the beach. Beautiful coastal walks to Craster and Beadnell. Would like to return.

Very good site. Some mix up with bookings as we arrived, but all sorted. Minor roads from the A1 easy to drive, and final road to site no problem (caravan). Good walk across fields to the beach. For longer walks north to Beadnell and south to Craster we parked in Embleton village on the road to the golf club and walked down the road to the beach, though it was possible to park at the golf club for £5 for the whole day. We will return.

Lovely peaceful site!! Highly recommended!! Great for families and for visiting local area!

We are currently staying on this site!! Fantastic site with our own tap. Lots of space for a small site with hard standing too. Found some reviews a little confusing....it is a single track road but it's a good sized one, as most of it you can pass another car. There is one bit of the road about 10 yards which is narrow heading into village but you then get to a pavement so no problem at all. Not a busy road at all. Very quiet at night. We walked to the beach which took us roughly 30 minutes at a steady pace. Called at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel for a lovely drink on way back and the chippy van visits the village every Thurs evening 5-8pm. Very nice chips! Not at all bothered we weren't greeted at site. We just pulled on and set up. No one hassling us. Site owners kept in contact via email and replied promptly to any questions. Waste and rubbish facilities are great. Next time we will be bringing our bikes as cycle track in village to Craster! Was worried about taking our 12 Yr old on road to village but we've been on much narrower roads so no worries there!! Very chilled and relaxed site which we will definitely be returning to and recommending!!

Nice site but no information or contact from owners

Arrived on site and found notice no reserved pitches so pitched up adjacent to the road. (Bit noisy in the morning rush) Looked around for local information but none on site so googled the area info, had to walk to village to see what was open etc. Road to village narrow with a 60mph limit which drivers seemed to speed up to until 30mph village signs, so take care when walking this stretch of road. No contact with owners at all, which seems unusual but no big deal unless you need a little information about the site and local amenities. Only found private foot path to beach was accessible to site users on 5th day, not in site information at all (strange) Site level with separate tap for each pitch so bring your water hose fitting if you have one. Lack of personal site interaction/information result in only 3 stars from us.

Having spent some time here we will not becoming back. We wasn’t met on arrival, left to our devices..We had a number of issues and tried to contact the owners, leaving a number of messages asking them to contact us but never bothered, we felt we was just left.. so beware.

Ok, but room for improvement

Room for improvement When we booked we were told (in writing) the EHU pitches were full but we could have a non-EHU pitch and could get water from the tap beside the electric hut. Upon arrival, when we went for water, we were accosted by an overly-precious and protective woman on the pitch beside the hut asking why we were using HER water. We phoned the reservations number to seek clarity, leaving a message, and to this date no one has bothered to call us back. It would appear that there are five pitches, each with a private supply, with no way to service the extra customers whom they are happy to take money from. In essence, the site will take bookings in excess of their capacity, and have absolutely no means of fulfilling basic needs such as water. Combine that with the one and only bin being unusable due it overflowing, the fact that we never actually saw or heard from the owners, it was not an enjoyable visit. Everything about it shouted of “we have a spare bit of field, let’s fill it and not worry about how to run it, it’ll be fine”. As things stood, the site was NOT full, and we could have been on an EHU pitch (and this also meant there was a spare tap which we used) but again….silence from the owners. We won’t be back. Plenty of other sites on this area.

A great site but one issue to mention.

This site is everything that you would expect from a quality CL: - spacious level pitches, individual water points, good rubbish/waste facilities etc. However this site is situated a little less than a mile from the village of Embleton. Being motorhome owners, we generally pitch-up and walk. Now the road into the village is (for the first few hundred yards at least) relatively narrow with no footpath and no lighting. Walking into Embleton was just about okay but the walk back in the dark was scary, despite us having a torch with us. Every time a car passed we needed to jump into verges that were covered in nettles and/or brambles. Whilst we clearly survived our hazardous treks we felt that we were fortunate in that we had neither children on dogs with us. Maybe there is a safer walk through the fields into the village. We couldn't see any obvious path, but we might have missed something? We'll be back no matter what though.

A Perfect Location.

Firstly I need to say that this CL is not 200 meters away from the coast as stated but a 5 minutes drive! I think the owners meant to state that it's 200 meters away from Embleton village rather than Embleton Bay. But that's the only negative (if you can call it that) within my review. We found this CL perfectly located to explore the glorious Northumberland coast. Bamburgh to the North and Warkworth to the South are all within a 30 min drive. Most of the beaches can be reached within 15 minutes from this CL and we absolutely loved the area, our favourite being Beadnell. The site itself is as described with large hardstanding pitches with a grassed area, each pitch having it's own water supply along with the EHU bollard. There is ample spaces between pitches so plenty of room to spread out if needed. The waste facilities are clean and segregated from the main site, but the only recycling bin is for glass! This is probably a local council issue rather than the owners. Access to the site is easy and straight forward with plenty of room to bring your rig off the road before entering the site. The lane itself from which the CL is accessed is pretty quiet but there can be a slight bit of road noise in the mornings but to be honest it never bothered us but it's worth mentioning. So would I come again? absolutely! Do I recommend it to others? No, as I want to make sure I get booked again for next year!
