Felt like we were miles from anywhere, Blissful

We visited here a couple of months ago...A very Autumnal time of year, We checked the weather before we left so we knew it would be sunny & dry even if a little cold. The walks with the changing leaf colours were amazing & plentiful. On this occasion we didn’t want to actually go out in the motor home once it was set up so it suited us as the walks were accessible direct from the farm. A map (OS) would be quite useful. We are not avid walkers & some walks were easier than others but all were thoroughly enjoyable...perhaps we’ll take up walking full time now! We were the only ones at the site which meant it was so very peaceful, which is what we wanted & very much needed. There is some road noise as it is off a busy road but not loud enough to bother us. The site is basic but this is what we prefer as we are not fans of manicured sites. Sue welcomed us & although it was muddy we managed to get settled quickly although we did slip & slide a couple of times. I'm sure we would have been pulled out by Trevor's tractor if it was an issue. We are not afraid to get our motor home a little dirty so we were fine but if you want to keep yours pristine then go here when the weather is drier. We did have to use anti slip mats (not sure of the proper name for them!) when we left the site. The farm shop is absolutely amazing. We tried so many different foods such as Lambs bacon & pheasant. Pity we went shopping before we arrived as they have everything you need. We will wait & buy there next time. The meat prices are of course more expensive but so fresh & tasty it's worth it & they have different things to try which you would not usually buy. Yummy! There is a toilet, very basic but serviceable. It looks like a portaloo from the outside but does have a proper toilet within, although no sink but again as motor homes have toilets etc we only used it when we’d been out walking (Muddy boots!) Although the farm mainly farms sheep, there are some cows, a donkey, a horse & llama! We enjoyed watching Trevor on his quad bike rounding up his cows & on several occasions laughed so much at the antics (Trevor & the cows!) Sue & Trevor know the surrounding area so would be able to tell you where the nearest shops/pubs etc are, they leave you to relax & do not bother you unless needed. Read the other reviews too, which is what we did. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely return & make it one of our regular sites.
