A wonderful site

We had a great weeks stay here in July. Fantastic views, basic facilities which suits us because we always use our caravan facilities. Wynford is a really nice guy. We had many a informative chat to him. The entrance could be a little tricky but no real problem. We will back. Many thanks.

Great Place to Stay

We have just had a great 3 night stay and visited Chatsworth House Christmas display, market and illuminations. Fanshaw site is simple but has all you need. The only issue is the entrance and uneven driveway which is ok provided when you leave you don’t drive too slowly upwards. We will be back. Thanks Wynford. S & T

Very pleasant and exceptionally helpful owners, views and walking area ideal. Access to the site needs care but the reward is worth it , and very peaceful. Handy eating venues close by,

Beautiful scenery but awful exiting

Fanshaw Gate House is a beautiful site with very welcoming and informative owners. The pitches are ok if slightly unlevel. Great walks straight off the site and Gillfield Woods was a favourite for our dogs. Access to the site is via Fanshaw Gate Lane which is is single track with a few narrow passing places. The turn into the site is ok but the steep descent on the site drive is very uneven , deeply rutted and there are exposed tree roots which fouled out Motohome tow car. However we managed to get down ok and enjoyed our four night stay. On the day of our departure hooked the tow car to the motorhome and began the ascent. Two attempts and got stuck. So unhooked and 3 attempts solo in the motorhome managed to get up but only just with a smoking clutch

Picture perfect CL site with wonderful owners

Since campsites opened on April 12th this year, we've stayed 3-4 times at this CL for short stays to visit family nearby and can't recommend it highly enough. Its location is truly delightful, with wonderful views and lovely tall trees. Just 5 pitches with EHU, no facilities other than water, electric and chemical waste but that wasn't a problem. The views are very pretty and quite far-reaching, the site is tranquil and there are good rural walks from the lane. But the very best thing is the owner Wynford Rosser, such a delightful man. Thank you for always making our stays so interesting! Felicity and Lee.

Quiet site, nice views

This site is located off a quiet no through lane close to the Peak district. It has large well kept gravel pitches with great views of the moors and across to Sheffield. It was very quiet apart from the birds singing. The owner is really friendly and welcoming and told us about local walks. Would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful CL with lovely views

Our first visit to this CL but it won't be our last. We received a great welcome from Wyn who was helpful in showing us around the site and showing us the choice of pitches. The CL has great views over the moors of the Peak District and Sheffield. It is well kept and pitches are tidy. It is very peaceful overnight as it is on a quiet no through lane. The turn into the CL is tight and the drive down to the CL is steep but nothing our 7.5 metre motorhome couldn't handle in a low gear. Others on site with large caravans managed it with no problems. CL is convenient for visiting Sheffield and northern area of the Peak District. Would highly recommend.

Views are Amazing and a Warm Welcome Too!

The views are fantastic! This site is so peaceful, totally unwinding within a couple of hours of arrival. Lovely ambience. Wyn and Jane are superb hosts and made us feel so welcome. We had booked for 2 nights, but it is such a lovely site we booked an extra night. Our dog loved it. Only an hour from home so just handy for de-stress stops. We will definitely be back. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

Peaceful and great views!

This was our maiden voyage as caravaners, and was only 4 miles from home in the same postcode! We wanted to make sure everything worked on our new caravan and this was the ideal location to do so before straying farther afield! The site was beautiful, great views down the valley and very peaceful. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and offered any advice if we struggled getting set up for the first time. We booked into the Angel pub for Sunday roast washed down by a few local craft ales, which was a 1.3 mile walk away, up through a tranquil ancient deer woodland. Other reviews said it was a tricky entrance / driveway (which I imagine it could be without a 4x4 and large caravan), but we had no problems with our Defender and 26 foot twin axel caravan getting in and out. A near perfect 2 nights, highly recommend :-)
