PERFECT CL? YES

Anna could not have been more helpful and engaging. What a breath of fresh air re pitches and pitching. The pitches are absolutely enormous, you are encouraged to pitch as you like, even upside down !!! We pitched our 7 mt van side on with the door side facing the setting sun. With ample space for the car at the side. it would be bliss in the summer. Lots of small villages within reasonable walking distance from the site, most even with a pub that is open. All the facilities are spot on and convenient. Wifi reached our van. A bonus. We had fantastic entertainment in the morning on our bird feeder, numerous small birds, even a woodpecker. No light pollution and the only noise is bird songs. The loyalty card system is a brilliant idea. As Arnie said " We will be back" We would recommend arriving after noon and departing before noon, as the approach roads are narrow.

If Carlsberg did CL's...

Earlier in the year we had tried to get booked in here at the summer school holiday start, but it was full. However, Anna put us onto a nearby small site. It is important to support CL's, so for the Autumn half term this was our first choice, and we managed to get booked in for a long weekend. Correspondence by email was prompt and simple. We were able to arrive earlier than planned thanks to a late notice inset day. Anna reiterated the need to follow the directions, so a run past the JCB factory was a telling end to the journey. The reason for the no sat nav roads was given, idiot boy racers revved up to get to Alton Towers cause all sorts of carnage. Our trip coincided with Scarefest at Alton Towers, se we were able to get in late on the Friday. The beauty of Merlin Annual Passess being you don't have to worry about how often you visit. Arrival at the CL was on a beautiful autumnal afternoon with the leaves turning and a bright sun setting. The approach is straight forward, just go slowly. We had a choice of pitches, so pitched diagonally on number 1. Set up. Went off to Alton Towers and on return, settled up fees. Saturday, we awoke to a glorious sun rise through the trees on the CL. The water tap and grey waste are a pleasant stroll away. The honesty box for a tub of ice cream was a neat feature. Other items are also available. The chemical disposal is discretely fenced off. This CL is simply stunning and illustrates the passion the owners put into it. That it is a brief drive from Alton Towers is great. We will return, hopefully many times in the future. Excellent.

Fantastic

Our first visit to this site and it was a last minute decision. Thankfully they had space. The site is exactly as described on the website. Unlike some we have visited. The pitches are very spacious and level. The setting is very pretty and peaceful. The amenities are spotless and everything is close to hand. Anna and Mick are very welcoming and friendly people.  We don't intend on sightseeing but there is details of places to visit nearby if you want that. I can see this being a regular place we visit so don't all book or I won't be happy ??  Well done Anna and Mick

FANTASTIC C.L.

Having not visited all of the C.L's on the network I can't say for sure if this is the best but I can say it is certainly the best I have visited. The owners, Anna & Mick are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. They are so helpful and obliging. The site is set in lush green farming land (dairy) with plenty of open fields for dogs to have a good run. Please remember to pick up the dog waste as it is extremely harmful to the cows. The hard standing pitches are huge and you can set up anyway you wish. The washing up area and toilet are brilliant. Spotlessly clean.  You can buy locally produced ice cream via a honesty box and there is a selection of useful household items available if you forget to bring things with you. All that is asked is that you replace what you use. There is even an ironing board and iron for use. The site is, quite rightly, very popular and advanced booking is strongly recommended. CONGRATULATIONS ON A BRILLIANT SITE  (now, where's that voting form)

BEST ORGANISED CL I HAVE BEEN AT

Superbly organised and run CL. Caters for everything the users would need or want, beyond 5 star. Run by enthusiastic, friendly helpful people. Only one negative, it is too far away for us to use it regularly but we will be back. Many thanks for a most enjoyable stay.

Fab fab fab

First visit to a CL and now we are hooked. Super people who run it. So friendly. Pitches are massive and the views are breathtaking. Sorry we had to leave. Please vote for this site in CL of the year. They deserve it. Even the cows are friendly at this lovely site

Fantastic CL

Just returned from a weekend at Fieldhead Farm and it couldn't have been better. The communication from the owner was friendly and informative, the detailed directions on the web site were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We used the site as a base for a weekend at Alton Towers to celebrate my daughters 8th birthday for which the site is perfectly located. The site is perfect, wide gravel hard standings, a purpose built chemical toilet disposal point (not a hole in the ground), a hut containing local information, books and games to borrow. The site also boasts its own small kitchen with a washing machine, large sink with hot water for cleaning your pots & pans and a modern, clean toilet area. To top it off there is a freezer containing locally produced ice cream. I couldn't praise this site enough, nor the friendly and considerate owner.

See you again soon we hope

This is more than a CL, it is run by a lovely person with a big heart who clearly cared about our situation (local exhausted carers needing a place to recharge). A beautiful site, our first ever caravaning site experience. Peaceful, clean, welcoming, home made ice cream!!! Greetings cards to buy. Pitch was lovely. Clearly people who like people! We look forward to being able to come again soon and to simply be. We only had one night but we felt the benefit straight away. Thank you

Hidden Gem

Just backing up what other reviewers have said facilities were at a high standard, pitches were so big you could put a small house on them.  Looking out to a field of cows every morning total bliss. Also a really good idea of having an emergency supplies shelve for all the things that run out when the shops are closed, just take and then replace brilliant! The only thing I would recommend is perhaps a light actually in the loo unless I missed it but couldnt see one.  Made night time visits interesting :) but that's only being really picky

Brilliant!

There's not much I can add either to the owner's description above or to the reviews below. Just like to confirm what a brilliant little site this is! Huge HS pitches facing west(ish) so if you're lucky like we were on Friday you'll get a lovely evening sunset with the cows in he field opposite for entertainment.  This is the way all CLs should be! ?
