great overnight site, possibly not a long term holiday place

so... a great CL site, as they all are. a little noisy as the site is near the main road, but far enough not to get annoying overnight. my main issue is that here are no dog walks from the site and it is very close to an old quarry; so the quarry and the main road, lock this site into an area of no long walks without negotiating, one, or the other. Saying that, the owner is a great, the shower and loo (only one of each) are clean and modern and the pitches are clean and level ( a slight slope but levelling blocks sort it). stay if passing through as a lovely site, but not one to explore the area from on foot. sorry, hope that doesn't offend.

Best Site in the area

We have just booked our Seventh annual stay here. It is a very friendly CL with toilet, shower, washing up facility and plenty of hot water. It is surrounded by mature trees. There is a slight traffic hum when the wind is from the North but it's not intrusive. We love this site and have no need to try other sites in the area. The owners allow you to do your own thing but are always on hand for help and advice.

A lovely site

We have just booked our fourth annual stay here. It is a friendly CL with toilet, shower, washing up facility and plenty of hot water. It is surrounded by mature trees. As stated, there is some traffic noise, especially weekday mornings, but it is very far from being the noisiest site we've been to. We love this site and have no need to try other sites in the area.

Not happy caravanners

We spent 2 night at this local site as we wanted to try out our van before a longer holiday. Facilities etc as already described but there is a quarry/waste site in the vicinity and access is from a road just passed the CL site entrance so heavy lorries use the No through road from early in the morning. There was a traffic hum from the nearby A14 which we tended not to notice during the day but which could be heard during the night. The lady in charge appeared at our caravan a couple of hours after we arrived and demanded our membership card and upfront payment for our stay. We received no welcome and she showed no interest in us apart from wanting our money. In 27 years of CL use we have never encountered this attitude before. When booking I asked if I could bring an extra car and was told everything was extra. We did not therefore feel we could tell our son to drive over as it was unsafe to leave his car on the road outside because of the lorries and we felt we would be charged if he brought it onto the site. I even felt obliged to explain he was just visiting when we sat outside having a cup of tea and she came over as otherwise I felt sure she would charge us for him being there. We did not like this attitude and will definitely not be visiting this site again.

CC note

Caravan club note! This lovely CL provides  excellent wifi and its free! Welcome on arrival first class, with helpful owners. Pitches generous with plenty of space per outfit. The shower water is hot and powerful and a great addition. We have had an action packed weekend and to return to this lovely CL in the evening has been perfect. Cycling and walking to village excellent and yes it is near the a14 but for us buzzing here there and everywhere a positive advantage and road noise no real problem.  Have loved it! Will be back

Good site

We have just returned from this CL after having a good long weekend. The site is set in a woody area where you can sit and watch the red kites over head. This site must be even better in the summer. There is a little noise from the A14 but it is not a problem. we will be returning to this site.

Excellent site

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of February this year. We received an exceptionally pleasant greeting from a very friendly owner. The facilities are excellent, toilet, shower, wash basin and washing up sink, all housed in a reasonably warm building with hot water. Free wifi was a very unexpected bonus. The gate and the facilities are operated with a code and the site is watched over by cctv giving you peace of mind. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Excellent (warm) facilities

Lovely wooded setting with easy access to A14. The toilet, shower & sink facilities are excellent (and warm!!). Lots of hot water. Tourist info, pub menu and maps available. The pub is about 30 mins walk away on the other side of the A14 and usually serves food - unfortunately when we were there they were awaiting a new kitchen!!!. Would definitely return.

Nice little hide away

Owner was very friendly and we was allowed to arrive late. Good facilities in a countryside setting my children loved the wildlife and walks at tywell hills & downs. A14 is closed so a little traffic noise but not intrusive.

Stopover

We used this site for a one night stopover. It's very handy for this being only 5 mins (if that) from the A14. Secure site having keycodes for both the gate and facilities door. The owner was friendly and recommended a pub for us to eat in which was very nice. The toilets and shower were clean, but take your own loo roll! It'snear the main road but the road noise was not intrusive. Ideal for us when travelling along the A14.
