Flagg Hall the hidden White peak gem.

Just back from a week at Flagg Hall Cl , it was our first outing there , we were pleasantly surprised just how nice it was. The pictures on the CMC website don't do justice to the size & selection of pitches that are available , both grass & HS. Extremely quiet apart from the local tractors doing there daily chores . There are several walks direct from the site both public footpath ( the one over to the nearby village of Monyash was easy to find & walk . the start of the Lathkildale walk / trial) & quite lanes for our morning / evening meanders Monty our 3 year old Cocker loved every minute of them. C!ose by are the towns of Buxton & Bakewell for shopping . Hartington & Youlgrave are only a 15 minutes drive away too for some excellent walking tracks.

Lovely Quiet CL

We have just returned from Flagg Hall & enjoyed 12 glorious days there. The CL is a large lawned area interspersed with trees which is beautifully maintained, the grass was cut 3 times while we were there. The site photos don't do it justice. It is set in a lovely location with views of surrounding fields & hills. You have the option to pitch anywhere on the grass or on the 5 hard standings, there are ample electric points. The TV reception was excellent & there was very fast free WiFi. It was lovely watching the cows go past on the adjacent track in the morning to be milked & lovely hearing the owls during the day & early evening. The pubs in Monyash & Chelmorton were both very good & the meals there were excellent. There are lovely walks direct from the CL but also it is very well situated for any of the more popular Dale or reservoir walks of which we did many.

Lovely quiet cl

Lovely quiet (apart from crows nest in the trees) front lawn of Flagg hall. Grass cut regularly and well looked after. Lovely stay in may despite rain every day.

Lovely CL, friendly welcome

We have just returned from a very relaxing 11 nights stay at Flagg Hall. No problem with the road or entrance to the CL, plenty wide enough. We received a friendly welcome on arrival from Mavis. Very relaxed about where we pitched and what way we faced. Very different to a CAMC main site! We chose a hard standing pitch as were we thought we may have some April showers but how wrong we were. Sunshine every day, though the nights were frosty. It was lovely to see the dairy herd go up and down the adjacent lane twice a day. They must have been well trained though as we never heard them early in the morning. Mavis gave us a guided tour of the cowshed whilst they were being milked. It was fascinating to see the technology that is used to keep track of everything. The TV reception was not great, we managed to pick up the BBC stations but not ITV. Not that it bothered us too much. My husband had a good mobile signal with EE but with Vodafone it was non existent. The CL is very centrally located in the Peak District with the main towns seemingly 5 to 10 miles away in any given direction. We walked more than 40 miles during our stay. The Monsal Trail is close by as are many other walks. The walks through Lathkill Dale and the other dales are delightful. We can recommend the Old Smithy Cafe (licensed) at Monyash as well as the proper chips (and cheese) at the Bulls Head Hotel at Youlgreave, perfect stopping off places for a drink after a long walk. It was a wonderful post lockdown holiday and we will return to this CL in the future.

Peace and quiet

This was our first trip out in the van - we'd had a twenty year gap in our caravan holidays having given up when the kids reached their teens. We were pleased to be able to escape having to wait until lock-down allowed and travelling only 40 minutes from home. The site was well maintained with good access to electric hookup and choice of pitches, the views were delightful even through the rain, it was very quiet with minimal passing traffic. It was very close to the Limestone trail and the walk into Monyash was a pleasant 20 minute walk. The cafe and the pub in Monyash had just reopened and both felt safe to visit, the food in the pub was delicious - large portions. Previous reviews called this 'a gem of a site' and we completely agree.

Classic site.

Lovely site, beautiful surroundings, just imagine an idyllic country location and this is what you have. No noise other than the birds and passing horses, great access to the trails and peaks, Buxton 5 minutes away, Ashbourne ten.

What A Gem

I first came to this site as a child about 40 yrs ago and now with my family its lovely to make memories of our own. site now has 5 hardstanding pitches along with large grass field pitch where you want as long as your cable will reach. Mavis is always friendly and happy to help in any way she can. This site is in a small village and very quiet working farm and if you ask mavis will take you round the farm

Acres of Space

We stayed here for 6 nights in early July and had a great time. The site is very spacious, with lots of mature trees giving welcome shade in the hot weather. Flagg is a quiet little village with no facilities. Mrs Mycock, the owner, is very helpful and easy going. It was great watching the farm's 200 dairy cows coming up the lane next to the site for milking twice a day. There's lots to do in the area: we did a lot of cycling on the Trails in the area, but there are a number of pretty steep hills too! Bakewell and Buxton are close by, as is Chatsworth House. It's a very beatiful and relaxing place for a stay.
