A great CL

We spent 8 nights here over the May Day holiday. The site is a large sightly undulating mown field on a working dairy farm. When we arrived we were told to pitch anywhere we liked. There are 4 hard standing pitches and 3 hook-up points each with 3 connections. We easily found a nice level firm grassy pitch with good views. The site is in a quiet location with easy access to Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth and lots of walking in the southern Peak District. We had a good mobile signal (EE) but the TV signal was not good enough for us (that's probably a plus point!). It was good to see the herd of about 330 cows being moved in and out of the farm each day. Mrs Mycock, the CL Owner, is very pleasant and non-interfering. We would thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak pub in nearby Hurdlow, parrticularly if you have a big appetite - the food is very good, locally sourced and reasonably priced, and the staff are very friendly. All in all this is a great CL, one of the best we've stayed on.

Super CL

Spent 3 nights here beginning of May. Lovely CL with plenty of space. Very peaceful, farm site, basic facilities but that is all we need. Horses in the paddock, resident owl in the tree next to our van, watched the large dairy herd being put out to pasture each morning and back for milking later. The site is near to Monyash, Bakewell, Buxton, cycle trails and Lathkill Dale, Hartington, Tissington Trail, High Peak Trail. It was our first time here but will not be our last, already planning our return. The owner Mrs. Mycock is very pleasant and welcoming but not obtrusive.. We really enjoyed our stay.

second time around

this was our second visit to flagg hall and we loved every minute again. the only thing that has changed since our previous visit is that the chip wagon no longer visits on fridays. it goes to monyash friday and flagg hall saturdays. the weather was very windy but again we didnt mind. Mrs mycock was nowhere to be found whenever we went to pay for our pitch and we eventually caught up with her on the day we were leaving to pay. we will be visiting again in a few weeks and more than likely several times during the season. well worth the views, weather and lack of mobile signals.

peace and quiet

We arrived on Friday 13th March at tea time. It was cold, it was damp but it was beautiful. The whole area surrounding the site was open fields with a few houses and farms. Yes it was muddy, at this time of year it was to be expected. Yes it was cold outside, again expected. But the welcome from Mrs Mycock was lovely, she even gave us an extra long cable to ensure we could reach the hook up. There are no toilets or showers but as most have their own in the vans, its not really a problem. The peace and quiet of the Derbyshire dales was not a let down either. We walked around the surrounding village and were always acknowledged by residents. I would thoroughly recommend this cl for anyone who wants seclusion and peace, no frills and no noise. The dogs were mostly allowed to roam about under supervision but off the leads. We will definitely be going again and have already booked it. Neil & Bev

Nice Site

What a lovely CL We arrived at 5.25 pm on a Friday evening just in time to catch the fish and chip van at the corner of the site and these were some of the best I have had. The site is peaceful with the odd tractor passing and the grass is well looked after by Mrs Mycock. Could not get a phone signal on o2 Will definatly be back Roy Siddall

Wonderful Site

Perfect site, very quiet, even the cows every morning going back to the fields! Lots of room and very private. We were late arriving and the owner had left a note for us on the door which was very thoughtful.

Good base for walks [& pubs!]

Perhaps we didn’t visit Flagg Hall at the best of time [four days at the end of January 2014] as it rained pretty much every day! But this is the type of basic CL that we want as motorhomers – some hardstandings [three I think], EHU; water supply; CDP; recycling facilities. It was a lovely quiet area with only the occasional farm tractor on the adjacent road. There are a myriad of walks directly from the site giving access to the Limestone Way, the Midshires Way, the Pennine Bridleway & the northern end of the Tissington Trail. As a bonus, I have calculated that there are seven pubs within a two mile radius. I would think a circular walk could be plotted to take in all seven!!

Very quiet and peaceful

This was our first time out with a new caravan. The site is very tidy and the pitches are mostly level (just a minor adjustment required) The owner made us very welcome. One welcome discovery was the Fish and Chip van that parked at the junction in the village at between 17:30 and 18:30 on the Friday evening. We would recommend this site and I have no doubt that we will be back in the future.

Perfect

We have been visiting Flagg Hall for 17 years and it remains far and away the best CL we have used. Mrs Mycock could not be more welcoming, the site is beautiful come rain or shine and it is well placed for all Peak District attractions. Cannot recommend highly enough.
