Beware of the dogs!

We stayed on this site last week. The field is nicely kept but quite close to Burley Road which is quite busy and generates some traffic noise. Unfortunately we had a frightening experience with the owner of the sites dogs. I was leaving the site with my sister and our three Very well trained working Spaniels, who were all on leads at heal. When the owner of the sites two Jack Russell terriers ran at our dogs and started attacking them. My sister managed to get back with our older dog but one of the Jack Russells kept biting my younger one who was yelping and screaming with fear. Eventually I managed to pick her up but we were all traumatised by this and my sister especially was very upset. The worst thing was the man who said “ Sorry but these thing happen!!” I don’t think he would have said that if was his dogs being attacked!! Won’t be going back, spoilt the end of our holiday.

Ford Farm CL, Brockenhurst - A place to make memories

Have just returned from a wonderful break at Ford Farm. This is our first stay here and we were pleasantly surprised to find a well cut flat level grass paddock. Our outlook was across an adjacent paddock which contained ponies and horses having been turned out for their daily R&R. During the day and evening we watched a Roebuck deer making himself at home along with Mr Fox during the evening. The pitches were well spaced, allowing plenty of space for awnings and vehicles. A freshwater tap was close by and convenient to access. Access to the paddock was wide, and through two five bar gates which were well hung and latched. Emptying facilities were via a short walk into part of the stable yard. Bearing in mind this is very much a working yard, one would expect to find all those items connected with its running. A secure wire caged area was very adequate for emptying toilets and grey water. Refuse bins and recycle bags were also located in this unit. An adjacent toilet was available for members use, but was clearly marked that it was also for the use of staff and equestrian customers. I found it to be very clean and tidy. We found James and Trudy very welcoming and were keen to show us their busy equestrian business. A dozen steps takes you on to the New Forest, and the beautiful walks are endless. Brockenhurst village is but a ten minute walk away, and has all the facilities you will ever need. If you like ponies, and walks on the Forest, this is the site for you. We have booked to return at the start of the pony roundup season, and we really can't wait to have our own peace of R&R in a beautiful setting. Mike and Carole Cooper

Ideally located

Fantastic location within easy walking distance of Brockenhust village and all the facilities this offers, but also immediate access to the forest itself. The field is pleasant and each pitch of a good size. The owners are polite and helpful. Slight road noise - but very limited. So good we've asked to go back next year

Mucky

Arrived to find that the lawned camp field was in fact used as a horse paddock complete with horse muck underneath the drinking water tap. It was a very boggy field so we accepted the owner's offer of pitching motorhome on the stables hard surfaced mucky yard with ehu from his bungalow. His dogs had left plenty of their own muck around our parked area. The activity in the stables around us was busy from 8am till 8pm. The toilet was apologised for as only being stables toilets ..ie. below basic standard. The black waste point was awash with horse muck liquor and I was advised to make informal arrangements for grey waste!
