A Gem of a CL

This site is a rare breed. It has basic facilities of a tap, disposal point and that is it. However, under that basic banner you get lots more that is not obvious from the description in the handbook. The CL is set back behind a long farmhouse which also sits back down a long gravel driveway from the road. The road cannot be seen and is only heard occasionally as the odd bit of traffic makes it way to the local town of Diss. Approaching the CL for the first time is also a pleasant change as the sign for the turn into the driveway is visible probably 100 metres before you get to it, brilliant. Once into the CL area you will find a very flat close cut well kept area of rich green grass. There are a few hedging shrubs that create privacy between farmhouse and the CL site. The boundary to the rear of the site has a low level, about a metre high and probably about 100 metres long , close cut hedge. Over this hedge you have open views across fields to the odd distant building just visible on the horizon. Another bonus being this hedge and view are south facing and get the sun all day. Our six day stay was mixed for weather but still suitable for some sitting out in the evenings to enjoy the piece and quiet and watch the local owl swooping into the long grasses of the field beyond the hedge. As we enjoy cycling the number of designated 'quite lanes' around this site make visits to the the areas of interest most enjoyable with only the odd vehicle making its way through these single track roads and very rarely any hills to contend with. National cycle routes are only a few miles away. Added to all this I must comment on the owner of the CL, Mr Kemp. He was there to advise you if needed and always cheerful and a pleasure to chat with, but also left you well alone to enjoy the site and the local area. He keeps all areas of the CL and his home garden looking superb. A great place to stay and great to meet a CL owner that genuinely enjoys having a CL and providing an ideal environment for people to do what they want to do in this peaceful and quiet area of South Norfolk.
