Excellent CL

I can only repeat previous reviews, quiet, peaceful, excellent location, wonderful walks. A basic CL to relax in. As its open all year with hook up, we will be returning throughout autumn and winter, can't wait to see it in different seasons.

A favourite

We have stayed on this New Forest CL several times over the years and enjoyed it every time.  More recently electrical points have been installed and the site has been widened which has made it even better and as a result more popular.  The site is very spacious for 5 outfits.  It has an open aspect to the South so has plenty of sun when it shines and a view of the horses in the adjoining field.  The site has well established trees and bushes which provide good screening from the local road that has little traffic other than the ponies, donkeys and cattle that wander up and down it.   The site is very natural, rural and quiet and wildlife abounds.  There are attractive and peaceful walks and cycle rides to be had in all directions and most can include a country pub with food.  Less than a mile away there is a farm shop that stocks most supplies including newspapers.  3 or 4 miles further afield is Ringwood which has a Waitrose and plenty of other shops and eateries.  With a car there is the whole of the New Forest and the Solent to explore and plenty beyond that so you are never short of things to do.  The site has little or no terrestrial TV reception and no Wi-Fi which will be a disadvantage for some but you can get through on a mobile phone.  The ground holds awning pegs well and isn't stony.  After heavy rain surface water forms under the awning groundsheet but it drains away eventually.  It is not a boggy site and there is a gravel track from the entrance that takes most of the wear and tear.  The site is well looked after by the owner who keeps the grass short.  The entrance is a standard size metal farm gate with metal gate posts and a CL sign on it.  It is set back from the road so you don't see it until you are on top of it.  Furzehill Farm is in the quieter NW part of the New Forest and is easily accessed from the A338 Salisbury to Ringwood Road.

what a beautiful CL

This cl is in the heart of the new forest .The site is a large field with lots of room to spread out . We were very lucky as we rang for a pitch one day before ,we were lucky because someone had canceled and the pitch was available . Horses  rabbits and all the forest birds are to be seen and heard from your caravan. The sky on a clear night is so clear with minimum light pollution. This is a cyclists paradise . If you want to watch tv you will need a sattelite dish . We will be back next year and we will book early   Col .

A Little Gem

We had a brilliant 4 night break here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's in a lovely location out in the sticks but close to Fordingbridge as well. The field is of ample size for 5 outfits and is bordered on one side by a field and the opposite side a large hedge with a quiet road behind it. There is a little slope to it but nothing dramatic at all. We found the site excellent for touring the northern side of the New Forest especially on foot. The south side is only a short drive away. We had a little trouble finding the site but the tip is to pay where a farm gate has one CL notice and pitch in the field with TWO CL signs on the gate.  We'll most likely return again so praise indeed.

At one with nature

Great site. Perfectly positioned away from the crowds but not too far from what one needs - an ideal holiday base. The local wildlife almost integrated with us on our stay and I was able to get some great photos of a family of deer alongside our pitch, if I'd zoomed in I'd have tapped it's antlers with my lens. Lovely to see them so close. The famous ponies and cattle roam about the area and occasionally trot up the road offering a brief and infrequent interruption to a level of peace I'm not used to but very much appreciate. The water, waste and recycling points are all very clean and accessible and the grass well kept and maintained. Take a look at the website www.furzehillfarm.co.uk which carries information we were unable to find elsewhere. In conclusion: peace, quiet, ponies, cows, deer and a definite return to be booked as soon as I can make a hole in my work.

There is nothing more you could ask for. Quiet, well looked after site and friendly people. We even had warm dry weather as a bonus. A site to return to

Furzehill Farm CL

Pretty site off the beaten track, in a slightly less pressured part of the New forest. Very slight slope affects part of site. Served by internal surfaced access track. Electric hook up points along northwestern boundary. There are open views across fields to the southeast. Plenty of open space and well landscaped. The basic facilities are good. Gate and signage are set well back from road and partly screened - so take it easy on the approach so as not to miss the site entrance. All in all a site I would definitely return to.

Heart of the New Forest

Very surprised this site has not had a review. Located in the heart of the New Forest you are never far away from the ponies or wild cattle, surrounded by fantastic walks with or without a dog and mainly on flat land. Local to Bournemouth, Poole, Southampton, Ringwood and Fordingbridge with Weymouth and Salisbury about a 30-40 minute drive. Very warm welcome on arrival with on site recycling and good chemical disposal. The only negative for this site is the entrance gate is a little tight.
