Hidden gem!

Garnffrwd CL is one of those hidden gems that this club member was delighted to discover! ( thanks to a CL search on the club site). The CL is set near a large fly fishing trout lake which abounds with wild life on and around the lake. You can also take a stroll around the lake if fishing is not your thing or sit at the cafe which overlooks the lake and take in the lovely views. At £10 per night, this CL is a bargain! The CL is well laid out plus clean and tidy. The Elsen point is in fact a loo set out in the nearby woods and made me laugh when I first saw it but then it does the job it's designed to do. The tap to flush out your cassette is right next to the loo and tucked in the other corner is a drain to dispose of your grey water. Opposite the pitches is a single tap so you don't have to go far for water. You share the area with two wooden lodges which are at the top of the CL and don't impose on your privacy. The place is peaceful and relaxing except now and then you have low flying RAF jets which for a few seconds, can become noisy. In our four night stay, I only saw two come over and that was later in the afternoon on one day so it should not spoil your stay. The owner, Jamie is a very likeable and laid back Gentleman. When we arrived at the CL, we couldn't find any one so rang him. He told us to pick a pitch and pay him when we bump into him next. None of this regimented stuff you find on the main CC sites! Finding the CL is quite easy and in the final few miles you will spot the familiar brown tourist signs for Garnffrwd. I would advise you to strictly follow the route given to you. We tried the other route in the car and it was on a very twisty and narrow (and I do mean narrow!) country road which comes in opposite to the recommended route. So satnav users beware! The last mile or so to Garnffrwd is a narrow country road so care must be taken as there are few passing places. Those of you with large caravans might find it a bit daunting. Motorhome users should cope better and while we were there, most visitors had motorhomes. The entrance to the CL is just past the farm. Just look out for the club CL sign, you shouldn't miss it. As you turn into the CL, you find yourself on a narrow road which bends to the right. We found over hanging branches were brushing against the right hand side of our caravan which I wasn't pleased with. I did mention this to Jamie (the owner) and he promised to trim them back. This is a CL which we would be more than happy to visit again. And before I forget, the owner is quite happy to take credit cards. You will find his office above the cafe or you can call at the farmhouse. A link to the CL site can be found here: http://www.garnffrwdflyfishing.co.uk/
