Better than previous reviews would have you believe

We came here by accident. If we had read the previous reviews we would not have come. However it is perfect for us. There is still grass if wanted but in a campervan we were happy to have gravel to not get bogged down. There is a little road noise but nothing excessive. Martin was very helpful. If you want 5 star comfort and views, stay on the very expensive sites.

Don't believe the photos

I reported this campsite to the Caravan Club as the photos are at least three years out of date. Hardcore has been dumped on top of the previously lawned area, and the paved areas leading to the facilities have been removed: the site now looks awful, just a bleak and gloomy quarry. The path to the shower block is now made from slippery shingle - not the paving that is shown in the photos. I took pictures at the time and sent them to The Caravan Club alongside the equivalent (false) view that still appears on the web listing. I made my complaint in September 2021 and it's wrong that the site is still advertised with outdated photos.

Not good

All negative comments are true. Noisy no view. Like a quarry, £20 is a rip off. Won't be back

Not really a 'Golfer's View'!!

I agree with the previous comments made. There is absolutely no view of anything but tall trees and shipping containers! We too damaged the back of our 4 berth caravan entering and leaving the site, it's much too steep a slope on and off the road, and very fast traffic to pull out into. The toilet and shower were ok but very dirty and not cleaned at all during our stay. Although you can't see the road there is constant traffic noise - should absolutely not be classed as a tranquil site in the book. The golf facilities were very good according to my husband, although they are not 'on site' as the book suggests - you have a 10 minute walk, have to cross two very fast roads and a train track to get there. We think £20 a night is far too much for this site. Sadly, we would not recommend this site and will not be returning.

We came home and didnt stay

Never have I been so disappointed with a caravan club site. There was a steep incline into the site off a main road and totally unsuitable for a large outfit. There was no room to put even a small awning up as the site was all hard standing covered with what can only be described as rubble! There was no view of the golf club. There were shipping containers stored very close to the site which looked unsightly. Road noise considerable. No where safe for children to play as the only pitch with any grass has been take . I agree with the previous review that the site is not large enough for 5 caravans. £20 per night is a disgrace to shower and toilet in what can only be described as a porta cabin. This site needs to be reviewed by the caravan club immediately.

Damaged our caravan coming into the site

We were very disappointed visiting this site as there is a fairly steep incline when entering the site which meant our caravan scraped along the road and site driveway causing damage and deep scratches to the underside of our caravan. The maximum outfit length for this site is listed as 13 metres but with our outfit being significantly less than this (car and caravan combines is 11 metres) I can imagine this incline could cause the same problems for 4 birth caravans like our own. There were some scratches on the road and driveway which indicted to me that this may have happened before to other caravaners. I told the owner about this when we arrived and he just shrugged it off and said we "must be too low to the ground" and no compensation or even an apology was offered. We also scratched the underside of the caravan on leaving the site too so it wasn't a one-off. This issue has been raised with the CAMC team. In terms of the site itself, it has a partial view of the golf club depending on where abouts you're pitched, but I think the site name is slightly misleading, as are the photos, as it is now a completely hard standing site covered in large stones and gravel. The toilet and shower were OK but we've had much better on cheaper CL sites. You can hear the road from the site but it's not too much of a disturbance. We wouldn't stay again.

The site has no view

This is an enclosed site that looks like a quarry and has no view of the golf course. On one side it is bordered by a row of shipping containers. It is situated a short walk from the separately-owned golf courses: the route crosses the two parallel roads and a railway level crossing. Some of the photos on the Caravan Club website are misleading and should be removed. Most of the grass on the site has now been covered deliberately in hardcore, which could possibly damage your tyres. There is one toilet and shower, both in the same room. The paving that used to lead to the facilities has also been removed. It is now reached down a rather steep shingle path. We visited the bar at Leominster Golf Club, which was very welcoming and dog-friendly, with club-priced drinks. The bar has a raised terrace overlooking the golf course which was perfect for a drink on a summer evening.

Golfers paradise

A very pleasant stay, friendly owner quiet site. Don't be put off by the negative review below. I was concerned about the 2pm arrival but when I booked owner was relaxed and advised that we can arrive at any time. Walking distance to Leominster Golf Club, lovely 18 hole parkland golf course. Next door (also walking distance) is The Grove, very well maintained pay and play 9 hole par 3/4 2000 yards course and a challenging 9 hole 3000 yards course. Also at the Grove, nice outdoor cafe/bar area, driving range, crazy golf and I think post covid there will also be bowling. Great for a short stay with activities in walking distance.

Fantastic CL Site

I have just returned following an amazing 3 nights stay on this site. Please don't be put off by the negative review left for this site. This site is surrounded by a bank and trees where behind these are the wonderful sounds of sheep and cows. There is 2 golf courses opposite the road which is a very short walk from this CL site. One of the golf courses is called the Grove which has fantastic entertainment facilities which includes an 8 lane bowling alley. I stayed with my wife, 2 children and my pet dog. The CL site was such a great site and allowed for the children and dog to play safely without the worry of any road traffic. There is plenty of room for 5 Caravans, my friend also brought his caravan and his child and dog. The owner was on hand if we needed anything (which we didn't) and was extremely friendly providing us with information of nearby places to visit such as Leominster and Hereford. There is a toilet on site with plans for a shower to be installed at a later date. This wasn't a problem because I used my caravan for both of these. I would highly recommend this site and will 100% be returning

Not a great experience

Have never reviewed a CL negatively but feel it's necessary to be blunt this time. Martin is a nice guy but I wouldn't recommend this site for more than an overnight stop if passing through. We booked for 4 nights but only stayed for one. A very small patch of land surrounded by trees and a high bank makes it feel quite claustrophobic, and there really isn't space for more than 3 caravans - although it's flat and closely mowed. Ironically, it's impossible to see a golf course even though it's quite close by. Worst of all, we found the noise from the nearby A49 unbearable. Site access is easy enough although quite steep, and there was no CAMH CL sign to help that we could spot.

Comment from the Club:

Please be assured the CL has ample room for five outfits and has been checked by our CL Advisor. There is woodland rising behind the pitches and the access is open to the East side with views to the Golf Course and beyond; which is why the site was named Golfers View. The A49 cannot be seen. It has fields and the B4361, which is more a country lane, between the A49 and the CL Site.
