Excellent Site.

The site was easy to find and we were welcomed on arrival by Roger & Katrina. There was flexibility as to where you pitched your 'van and which direction you wanted to face - as the sea was only a couple or so fields away this was the view we chose to have from the front of the 'van. As the site field is not huge wherever you pitch is only a few yards from all the services. These, and refuse recycling, were all signed clearly so no confusions could occur. Newquay is only a short drive away along welsh lanes through pretty hamlets. Overall, an excellent site for all except those with long twin axle rigs as the entrance is a bit tight!

Fantastic- very friendly hosts, peaceful site in a stunning location

Our favourite site, it was so peaceful and quiet. Roger and Katrina were wonderful hosts and it was great chatting to Roger over a few beers. The site is surrounded by stunning rural scenery with sea views. The sunsets left us speechless. The coastal walk left us breathless !! Access to the site is fine and we have a 7.5m long high-top motorhome. The grassed pitched are very level and well spaced out. Wi-Fi was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending the site and will definitely revisit in the near future.

Great site... great site and great time...

Stayed here last summer and found owners incredibly friendly and helpful.. I’m definitely happiest in chatting to the owners and getting recommendations of things to see and do in the area rather than just take the money... but I understand those in the latter camp.. A good walk down to the beach but energy needed to walk back up the hill. But to get the sea views you do then you have to go up a bit! There’s a footpath next to the site and then easily onto the coastal paths. A lovely if not challenging walk into Newquay but saw dolphins from the cliff edge.. Thankfully Roger and Katrina were fab... even made phone calll to book boat trip and ensured we got good discount!. Only downside now is the no dogs rule. Would certainly recommend to all though.

Beautiful site

One of our favourite sites. Its small and secluded with amazing views of the sea. Its not too far to get to the cliff path for fantastic walks along the coastal path. Roger and Katrina always make us feel so welcome and Roger is a mine of information on the surrounding area and the best walks. You can also walk to New Quay from the site. (A strenuous walk but worth it for the views and the fish and chips at the end) So if you want peace, quiet and beautiful scenery this is the place to go.

Peace and Quiet.

My Wife and I have just returned from this well kept site " The Good Life " and if peace and quiet and sea air satisfies your needs this is the site for you. We are both in our Eighty's and found the site and owners very welcoming and helpful . However care must be taken entering and leaving the site, but we have had no trouble getting in or out with our Bailey Cadiz pulled by a Honda CRV. September 2019 WPES4.

Small quiet site

We stayed at this CL summer 2019. It’s as described, quiet and peaceful. It’s definitely cosy. To touch on the lane subject (as per other reviews) it is narrow and if you don’t care about scratching your outfit then you won’t see the issue. If you do then the hedgerow will annoy you. However access overall is good. The surrounding area is wonderful. As motorhome owners, we walk everywhere and the coastal walks are fabulous, its not a flat path and is hard in places but worth it. Cwmtydu is within walking distance and so is New Quay. Stock up on supplies before you arrive and spend your time walking or having lazy beach days.

Simply The Best

This site has to be in our top ten favourite sites. We found it easily, following the directions we were given and had no problem accessing the site with our motorhome (despite previous comments about inaccessibility). We were made to feel welcome by Roger, and his dogs, and he ensured we knew where things were, gave us a map to help with local walks and was a fountain of local knowledge. We went for two days but ended up staying for four as there were so many walks and things to explore. Our dogs loved it here as well, think we may have worn them out with all the coastal walks though!! A lovely tranquil environment, we enjoyed walks to Cwmtydu, to a couple of coves and New Quay. Still plenty to explore so we will definitely be back. If you go ask Roger to tell you how to get to the waterfalls. Kate & Carl

A good time

First of all follow the directions from the handbook and not your sat nav we made that mistake. As for the site as it says peaceful and lovely walks on the coastal path . We walked into New Quay which took us 1 hour and 45 mins. Roger was great and organised a BBQ on our last evening for all serving up home produced sausages. Will look to return Guy and June

Well placed but difficult access

We stayed here for a week in August 2018. The site is in a beautiful area but access to the site with a large car and caravan was really not good. Directions from the main road were fine and we found the entrance with no problem but turning off of the single track lane into the narrow rutted approach track with a solid wall on the left hand side was just too tight a turn to make with our people carrier and 8 metre caravan - even taking it as wide as we could. We had to unhitch and use the motor mover to make the turn. The track is lined by a stoney bank and overhanging branches which scraped along the side of the 'van windows as we inched along it. We had a warm welcome from Mr Pead who gave us the choice of where to pitch in the pleasant paddock and gave us friendly advice on the local area. We enjoyed the local beach with the two seals who bobbed about there all day most days. It was ideal for launching our kayaks and the children enjoyed swimming too. There are lots of lovely walks from the site and it is a beautiful coastline. We were treated to several displays by the (almost) resident dolphins off the harbour wall at nearby New Quay. Most mornings on site the owners dogs would be seen wandering around the caravan field and leaving deposits behind. I resorted to picking it up to dispose of several times to avoid anyone treading in it (or our own dog being blamed for it.) In fairness to the owners, they may have been unaware as we didn't raise the issue with them. Part way through the week we were challenged by Mrs Pead (who we hadn't previously met) over the small pop-up beach gazebo we had up next to our caravan, alongside our half length awning. We use the gazebo to store the kayaks and related paraphernalia as the awning is not big enough (being half length). Mr Pead had seen the gazebo up several times prior to this during the week but Mrs Pead seemed to think we were using it as a tent to house extra people? Our caravan is a 6 berth and we are a family of 6. She did relent when I showed her the contents of the gazebo but whilst I appreciate that CL owners have to comply with C&MH rules, the way it was approached made us feel quite uncomfortable. Wifi signal was poor. It was only possible to get enough signal if you stood near the bins which were behind the owner's house through the hedge. This wasn't a major issue for us as we don't spend much time at the caravan when we are on holiday, but the site is advertised as having wifi and it may be an issue for others. Our teenagers were less happy than us! We had some heavy rain during our stay which left the approach track muddy but we had no problem getting the caravan off the pitch when we came to leave. We had to reverse the procedure of using the motor-mover to get our unit out of the track onto the lane. All in all - a lovely area which we'd like to explore more but this particular site is more suited to smaller units or motorhomes.

Response from the CL Owner (April 2021)

Thank you for your review from 2019. We have now changed the entrance by removing a pillar to make access much easier. The biggest rig that’s been down our lane is 10.5m and over 2.5m wide - that was a bit of a squeeze!! We regularly have rigs over 8.5 to 9m which get down the lane easily so please don’t be put off!! The previous lady running the CL that you mentioned in your review, is now no longer with us!

Many thanks

Roger and Katrina
