Ease of arrival/welcome

Not impressed

On arrival we were greeted by the owner who directed us to the site. We found access to be extremely tight and awkward, having to negotiate through old farm buildings and equipment, the ground was very bumpy and the metal gatepost is dangerous, we had about 2 inches clearance each side. After we had managed to get through the owner said 'I meant to tell you it was a bit tight'. The field is sloping and the grass was long, due to the sloping it is tight for five units to find a good pitch. We ended up under a large tree and next to the CD point. The views are pleasant, it is reasonably quiet although quite a lot of traffic uses the little lane that runs by the site. When it was time to pay and leave we were annoyed when we were told that there was a £3 per night charge because we had a 'tent thingy' namely our awning. There is absolutely no mention of this charge on either the website or in the club handbook. We object to paying extra for an awning on what is a very basic CL site, if we had known that there was this charge for an awning we would not have booked this site. We would not visit this site again.
