A little hidden Gem....

Just got back from a 3 night stay here and what a fantastic little site it is! We used it as a base for doing Alton Towers with our 2 children and found it the perfect little place. 10 mins to Alton Towers without touching either an A or B road so no traffic queues to sit in! We found it to be a beautifully presented site with well tended trees, shrubs and landscaping. No frills at all, but to us, this is the draw of these little CL sites. Massive amounts of space between pitches and easily accessible from the nearby (100yds) B road. Some traffic noise apparent at times but very, very minimal and extremely easily ignored. Perfectly level pitches and easy access to the EHU, waste and water facilities. Would definitely return here and would also highly recommend it. I must mention the nearby Pub, the Rose and Crown! We went here for a meal (2 adults and 2 children) and to put it simply.... Wow! The single best Pub meal we've ever eaten, one you must try to fully appreciate. Left out the gate, left at the B road and then follow the road. It's on your right after about 3 miles.

Wonderful!!!

This CL is fantastically kept, so peaceful, a real gem. On arrival our pitch was marked with a stake with our name on it, huge pitches, level, and in such a peaceful surrounding.  Definitely one to put on the "return to" list. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of work life, do yourself a favour and spend a few days here.

A Quality CL

Well presented and cared for CL.  Pleasant, relaxing surroundings but with plenty of walks, drives in the area. No hesitation in recommending as one to visit.

Marvelous site

We had mechanical problems with our Land Rover in that the engine kept overheating on the way to the site. Being an optimist and hoping that the problem would cure itself, we continued on our journey. We were warmly welcomed by the site owner Mr Bailey who gave us some useful advice when setting up our caravan. We had a super time visiting local beauty spots and our holiday coincided with the Ashbourne Festival. The car, even without the caravan in tow, continued to overheat. At the end of our stay Mr Bailey suggested that we leave the caravan on the site and make our way home. The following day Mr Bailey turned up at our home and delivered our caravan safely to our front door. Not only is Mr Bailey a wonderful host at a lovely setting but also one of life's real gentlemen. I am not advocating that you set off to Greenacres Bungalow in a dodgy car you can be assured of a warm welcome and a super holiday.

Lovely site

Lovely flat, well manicured site with lots of space. Close to the Peak District national park and also Alton towers. Surrounding countryside very pleasant. We stayed for 4 nights but didn't meet Mr Bailey.

One to try

I can only repeat what the other reviews have said, this a great CL. Very handy for Ashbourne and Uttoxeter. There is some road noise during the day but it is not too intrusive. Very quiet at night. Try it you will love it!

A+++++

We have been coming to this site for many years now, and will continue to do so. Mr Bailey (Michael) keeps the whole site immaculate, and always, there is a friendly welcome for you. Lots of lovely walks direct from the site, also very dog friendly. There is a little stream running around the CL field, and the site is very peacefull. The location is 5 miles from Ashbourne, and 7 miles from Uttoxeter. Keep up the good work Michael, see you soon.

We will return

This site is very easy to get to, although after saying that the last few yards of the approach road is a bit tight. We have stayed on the CL and the small site at the back of the CL, both are excellent. Ashbourne is only a few miles away and Uttoxeter a few mile the other direction. The dog walk on site is very good also. This is site that we will return to.
