Breathtaking views

Lovely and peaceful with the most breathtaking of views! If you are looking for somewhere that shows Wales in all its beauty, you won’t get better than this site. Nice and basic as expected from a CL (exactly why we choose them) very well kept and very friendly. No problems with the electric, clean water on hand and a chemical emptying point. The farm is just a short drive to the beach and other local attractions, although my 3yr old granddaughter would have been content to play in the field and watch the sheep all day.

what a view

beautiful location, friendly and helpful owners and a fantastic view. A bit of a hill to climb up to the site ... it IS Wales after all!! but well worth it. A well kept site on slightly rolling grass .. a water point and a chemical emptying point. The electric did not trip once during our week long stay ... even with the hair tongs and kettle and microwave on together ... definately a first!! definately return. A beautiful spot...we'd like to keep it a secret!

We arrived at the site mid afternoon in early april. There had been a lot of recent rainfall but by keeping to the higher central part of the site as advised by the lovely Doreen Davies who came out to welcome us we were able to avoid any potential sticking in the mud disasters. The site commands views across Rhos on sea and all through 180 degrees round across the estuary and over to Anglesey as it is 600 feet up with unimpeded visions of loveliness. A basic site but well maintained and lovely with plenty of local towns and sea fronts to explore. It was our first trip out with our newly acquired caravan and has cemented our love for caravanning in stone. We will be returning so please ignore this review and don't book it up permanently.....it's gorgeous. We'll never forget the sunset over the sea and hills through our front caravan windows on the night before we left. If you want marvellous views, peace tranquility and a gentle friendly welcome with lovely walks and access to sea side towns with character then this site will be perfect for you. There is a steep 1/7 hill to get to it but it's not a problem with a well balanced outfit so go and enjoy. You'll not be disappointed.

Lovely sea view

We have just spent 3 nights on this site. The access to the site is very steep but during our stay we found that if you go up the housing estate (st andrews road) you avoid one of the very steep and narrow lanes. Once you turn off the main road the roads are single track but we never met a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. Once at the site the views of the bay, sea and mountains are stunning. The site had easy access to water and waste. Colwyn Bay itself didn't have much to do but we did visit many of the surrounding areas such as Llandudno and snowdonia which we found plenty to do. The site is situated in a great place to visit the local Zoo, although we didn't go on this visit ( we did however think that we heard the monkeys on an occasion from the site).

Hafodty Farm

Spent five nights at this delightful CL this week and I concur with the previous review. The facilities are basic but first class, with water, recycling and waste disposal points close to the entrance of the pitching area. The chemical toilet emptying point is in an adjacent field and easily accessible. The pitches are level and the grass is well mown. There is a network of footpaths close by and these offer some spectacular views of the coast and Snowdonia, as well as being ideal for dog walking. Members are advised to follow the directions in the handbook or the website - do not rely on sat nav. After leaving the A55 and passing through the traffic lights, lookout for the direction sign for Llanwrst and the Zoo - this is located midway between a parade of shops and can easily be missed. The first section of the road is One Way, with residential properties(and parked cars) on both sides of the road. Looking forward to visiting Hafodty Farm again in the not too distant future.

Hafodty Farm CL Site

Arriving at the CL you just need to follow the directions in the CC book or print out the web page for the site (which I did). There is a 1:7 hill to navigate… which will not be an issue to someone with a well matched vehicle to caravan set up or a “looked after” serviced motorhome. I arrived in a motorhome which has its own usage issues as fellow MH owners will understand! The final approach to the site is down a narrow lane/private road with a few bumps in it but it’s well worth visiting this site, my MH is about 7m long and 2.24m wide and we didn’t have any issues getting there and setting up camp. The site is uneven in places but the pitches are about level so there is no problem setting up your caravan or motorhome. Water is by the main gate as are the waste bins the toilet emptying point is just through a gate to the next field as no one wants to be sited next to one to those do they! The site has very good views over Rhos on Sea and the surrounding area including the sea. Cowlyn bay is about 1¼ miles away down the 1:7 hill so unless you’re a strong cyclist you need a car, or move your Motor Home each time you wish to go off site, we took the cycles on the MH cycle rack just in case but didn’t use them due to the hills. There are plenty of places to get provisions and to stock up plus the normal Take Away places towns have. The brewers Fayre has two local places a short drive away with buffet food options etc. The site is quiet and can be a little windy do to its location on the side of the hill so Fiamma Awnings will have to be well secured and you will naturally have to keep an eye on them, standard caravan awning should be OK. The question every caravan/motorhome user should ask is will they go back to the site they have been to and are reviewing… the answer is an outstanding YES for me at this site. I have been caravanning for nearly 35 years and I am now a motor home user and we have stayed at hundreds of sites, and some I wouldn’t return to or recommend.
