Nice site But!!!

I can't complain about the pitch as it was a fully serviced pitch, all level and good spacing between. All the views were fantastic and the surrounding animals was very entertaining. Our experience with the owners wasn't good, very unhelpful and sour faced to be fair. We were holidaying with our friends who were staying elsewhere, our phone signal was at zero and we couldn't stay in touch with them. I did ask politely at the reception for the WIFI password so I could message our friends, to be told by the owner that because we were CAMC we weren't allowed to use this facility this was for all other guests. The next encounter with the owners was when our friends dropped us off, as we had been at the beach all day with all our gear my friend said ill drop you at the caravan, he didn't even leave his car, next the owner was harassing my friend and saying I wasn't being fair to other guests. I was so mad i very nearly left the site, if i had somewhere else to go I would have. I wouldn't recommend this site only because of the owners attitude towards us and CAMC members. Their website isn't clear and none of it applies to the CAMC members anyway.

Perfect, tranquil pitch

Having just returned from this lovely CL we just have to sing it’s praises. Being new to CLs not caravanning persay we have been delighted with this and the previous ones we have visited. The standard of service at Hallsdown has been first class. We had the end pitch giving spectacular views over the Devon countryside. All the pitches were on flat hardstandings with EHU, grey water drain and fresh water tap. Caravans were well spaced out ensuring privacy if needed. There were lots of animals to entertain, goats an alpaca, pigs and ponies to name but a few and none of them were at all noisy. Beaches were within half an hour drive and Woolacombe and Saunton Sands a little further were particularly nice and spacious, even though they were well used. We would certainly use this site again. Our congratulations to Andrew and Claire on producing such a lovely CL. The Smiths

And Relax

We stayed here over the May day bank holiday weekend and I have to stay what a lovely well thought out CL. The pitches are pretty level and have EHU, a Water tap and a grey waste drain on hard standing. The grass area around the pitches are very well maintained. It was so peaceful and had great views. In the field next to the site there are goats, sheep, an Alpaca, a couple of pigs and down the drive there was 2 x mini Shetland ponies and a donkey and some chickens. There is also a couple of little ponds with ducks. Owners are friendly and informative. If you book here you wont regret it, just don't tell everyone please, as we will definitely been wanting to book again.

Entertaining

We visited in August and selected this CL because it offered serviced pitches. It has been very well thought out and is immaculately maintained. The entertainment is provided by resident goats/ducks/donkey etc.Andrew has a 20 pitch site at the other side of the farm house opened a couple of years ago (Tranquil Sites). This provides showers etc and looks equally well maintained but does not detract from the peacefulness of the CL. We will certainly return. We normally use CL’s and this is certainly at the top of our rankings.

One of the best sites visited

Our stay was one of the very best we have experienced. Welcomed on arrival, plenty of advice on the surrounding area. Facilities were excellent with water, electricity, and grey water disposal on each hardstanding pitch. The site was very well kept and variety of animals and birds kept us amused. The long views from the site most enjoyable. The lane to the site was easy to manage despite some narrow sections, but taking care was all that was needed. If and when we visit North Devon again we shall certainly seek out availability on this very well run CL. Thank you the Mathers!

Excellent!

7 nights on this peaceful site in August. Pitches pretty level and hard standing with water, waste and electric point on each pitch - no carrying! Fabulous views from all the site. Very nice owners who welcomed us on and were very friendly when seen around the site. No hint of "farm" smell from any of the animals, in fact I had to go search for the pigs even to find them. Very very nice stay. My only gripe was the wind and rain all the week, and the one and a half mile narrow lane from the A 399 to the site with no passing places. But DONT let these put you off. Great place - shame its not a bit nearer to Sheffield or we would never be away from the place. I forgot to sign the visitors book - sorry Mrs Mather if you read this, I did mean to leave a good message in it, Thank you.

Peaceful and well kept site

This is a well kept, spacious site with lovely surroundings. The owners are very friendly and we loved all the animals including the donkey, alpacas, goats, ducks etc which added to the ambience of the place. The toilet and wash basin are very clean and there is a small collection of books to borrow. Arlington Court (National Trust) is a 30 min walk away, well worth visiting and a reservoir is 10 min walk away which can be walked around, takes approx an hour. Apart from this the site is pretty remote but ideal if you want to get away from it all, very peaceful and pretty, we would recommend it.

Happy together

Wow!

We arrived on a dark foggy night, chose a pitch and whilst hooking up we were warmly welcomed by Andrew. We hooked up and settled in for the night. In the morning we were pleasantly surprised to see our neighbours - goats, alpacas, ducks and pigs - and an amazing view. Excellent site with good hardstanding pitches each with their own grey waste, water and electricity, you would pay quite a lot for a serviced pitch at a club site!! Clean toilet, chemical toilet disposal and rubbish. Lovely walk round the reservoir and lots to do in the area, you though would need to use your van/car. I am sure we will return and would highly recommend.

I wish more sites were like this

This site has got to feature in our top 10 favorite sites. It is peaceful, welcoming, restful and most enjoyable. We got a personal welcome on arriving, we were able to choose which pitch we wanted and then left to enjoy our holiday in the knowledge that if there was anything we wanted to give Andrew or Claire a shout. We will certainly be visiting again if they will have us. Thank you very much for a lovely holiday.
