Could be so much better!

Visited this site a couple of weeks ago intending to stay for 2 weeks. Very disappointed with the 'hard standing' as it really cannot be called that nowadays- maybe 10 years ago. We had awful weather so the mud and grass cuttings were everywhere and we had to ask the owner for something to go over the mud in order to enter our caravan, The owner's son runs a business in one of the farm buildings which involves sand blasting car wheels, so consequently we did not get the peace that previous reviewers experienced and I believe this is now an ongoing enterprise. The noise is not constant but certainly more than the owner told us it would be for a 'couple of days a week'. In addition, every day we experienced military helicopters flying very low, sometimes at 11 o'clock at night. On the couple of occasions we did manage to sit and enjoy the picturesque view, we did love the wonderful birdlife and the walks from the site were great! Another downside is that the facilities i.e. toilet and shower has to be shared with the non CL site owned by the proprietor a few hundred yards away. Something we would not entertain in the future. All-in-all this site as been let down by a a complacent owner and it is a great pity that the Caravan Club cannot ensure that the stated standards and facilities of CL sites are maintained for their members. Note well though, we have stayed in many beautifully kept CL sites.
