Fantastic CL site

Wonderful cl site in beautiful countryside. Great walks over Cannock Chase only 5mins. from Shugborough Hall and 10mins. from Stafford. Peaceful site well worth a visit.

Peaceful

We stayed here for a couple of days at the beginning and end of a trip round Scotland, and on only 1 night out of 4 did we have to share the pitch with another 'van, so it was very peaceful. Nice walks from the site onto Cannock Chase, lots of wildlife, lovely sheep. Would definitely stay again, but would like a bit more signage to the disposal point and some bins for rubbish, which I thought should be provided on a CL site. Not a huge problem as we just took our rubbish to a local black street bin, just a bit inconvenient.

great location for Shugborough and Cannock Chase

Perfect location for visiting Shugborough Hall and Cannock Chase.  Walk down the drive, cross over road, walk through beautiful beech wood, straight into Shugborough estate, where you can visit gardens, walk along river and canal - all free!  To access Cannock, ask farmer for code for gate and it takes you straight onto the bridle way, 5 minute walk from Stepping Stones.  Our dog and teenagers loved it - freedom.  Also appreciated super smooth drive for skateboarding! Camping field had views of sheep and horses grazing, woods, good aspect for sunsets, grass was rather long, and have to take home own rubbish, but can cope with that for £7 per night.

Really lovely place to stay

This place is on Cannock Chase. There is access from the farm straight onto Seven Springs and what a most beautiful area to be staying for a weekend. It is peaceful and tranquil.  Few people use it so our dogs were able to wander around  without disturbing others. It is certainly a safe place for dogs as it is well away from the road. I met Tim the farmer who I found to be most welcoming, helpful and friendly. We will definitely return next year for another long weekend. This was our second visit and we  loved it.   We highly recommend it.  Mick and norma

We liked this site

On our way westwards we stopped overnight and visited Shugborough the next morning. We bought some lovely just picked, fresh strawberries from the farm shop on site and also sat outside the shop in the sun enjoying a scone and pot of tea. The owner was very friendly and helpful. This is a basic CL with virtually no facilities and we were aware of that beforehand so no complaints from us on that account, especially as we have full facilities on-board. We liked the field with it's views, the grass was well kept and although the earlier reviewer mentioned the noise it wasn't a problem for us at all. Would we stay again....yes if we were in the area. Would we recommend it, with the proviso that you do need to have full facilities on-board then certainly - we enjoyed our visit.

Bit of an odd site

First of all the good points! The owner seemed very welcoming on the phone, and access is very easy. Shugborough (NT) is VERY close, you could walk there (we were cycling). The views are lovely, across the fields and woods near the farmhouse. Sadly a number of bad points appeared during our stay (May 2013). The Cl is in clear view of a busy road, and traffic noise is an issue except late at night. A very busy train line runs close to the site, in a deep cutting, and both the noise and vibration (very odd) was a problem for me, even very early in the morning (5am). The grass was quite long but nevertheless had been cut and dropped some time earlier, so carried into the van badly. And then a very odd thing. There are no rubbish bins, and on going up to the house after a 3 night stay, the owner refused to take household waste of any form! We were away for 3 weeks, so this left us with quite a problem, were we expected to dump the rubbish elsewhere?! Sadly this spoiled our visit here.
