Very pleasant site

A good site with plenty of space situated on a large field. Very warm welcome and introduction to the facilities which are more than adequate. Mrs Grayston has some well put together information on the local walks and attractions which include the Stork public house just a short walk from the site. Getting to the pub can be a bit difficult as the main road has no footpath on parts and is quite narrow. There is an alternative footpath which you can take as we did which goes across several fields some of which have quite tall grass! Site is quite exposed and can be windy at times. Overall a good and inexpensive site.

Lovely site

Set in a large field. Some traffic noise from road but not enough to disturb. Owners very friendly and helpful. Fresh water,EHU, CDP, WC, refuse bins. Toilet is not on field but less than a minute walk. Grass well kept. Nice views and within walking distance of Glasson Estuary. Also public house a short walk away along road. We will be back.

NICE SITE.

Stayed here for a weekend. Booked last minute as we were let down by another site, due to wet pitches. Mrs Grayston very helpful on arrival. Even lent us a hookup cable extension as ours wouldn't reach the socket. Ideal for Lancaster and coastal walks around Glasson. Would stop here again.

Good overnight stop

We stayed at Heron's Wood for an overnight stop, it was very handy for the M6 and a welcome place to rest before travelling on further. A nice rural CL with lots of space, open views and well tended. Would have enjoyed staying longer as it's so close to the Lune estuary and Morecambe Bay. Many thanks.

An excellent CL

Mr & Mrs Grayston are very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. The site is emaculatly kept and there is plentiful local information housed in the toilet/ information room. There is an abundance of walking and cycling routes and the nearby Lune estuary is excellent for bird watching along the old railway line which leads to Lancaster (5miles). The Stork (pub) has excellent beers and food with good service. Glasson has a pretty marina. We intend to visit the site as often as possible including winter time. Thanks Russ & Liz Wilson West Yorkshire.

Nice Area

Tidy CL in a nice area, near to Glasson, good for walkers and cyclists, pub nearby, only let down by being on main road with no footpath which can be a bit dicey...

Our first CL

As the title states, this was our first try of a CL site, being relatively new members of the Caravan Club. If this site is typical, then we will certainly be trying others in future. The owners were on hand to show us the facilities available, but pretty much left us to get settled in. Having been born in the area, and keen walkers/cyclists, this site is perfect for both activities. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Grayston for getting us off on a good start with our CL journey.

\sheep!

Stayed 3 nights last weekend with our spaniel who was fascinated by the sheep in the adjoining field....but also a little scared.  Had really relaxing and enjoyable time.  Facilities really good, easy to use and accessible. Welcome warm and not intrusive and views lovely.  Pub within easy walking distance and one in Glasson along the coastal path or canal - another easy walk.  Could not fault site or location. We will be back, just hope the sheep are there as kept dog quiet!

One to Return to, so we did

I'm not going to bore you by reiterating what everyone else has said but will add a few points. We are cyclists, have spent 2 weekends here and enjoyed some excellent rides. The terrain is such that one can ride at about 10m above sea level one day and 300m the next. Lots to challenge all abilities. Our van is 8m (24') long and whilst we had no problem with access in or out it did require extreme care exiting onto the main road. A lovely welcome from Mr & Mrs Grayston and family on both occasions we stayed.

Perfect in every way.

We stayed here for a week in August - despite which it rained, as it does in the area, for much of the time. It's easy to rate a site positive when the weather's good but the true test is when it isn't! Although with the simplicity of facilities that you expect with a CL, Heron's Wood had everything - easy to find [use their directions - not SATNAV!!] and very easy to enter. Your pitch is marked but we had a warm welcome too. Quiet and with view of the valley from the top of the sloping field relaxing after the M6 battle took minutes. Lancaster is 10-15 minutes, the M6 the same so whatever you want to access its easy and quick. Practical bits - good electric, easy water and waste disposal and clean toilet. Firm well drained ground. We will definitely be back.
