Well maintained and good value

Excellent site with spacious, fully serviced hard standing pitches. Access very straight forward but follow owner's directions to avoid narrower lanes. Shower and toilet very clean with lots of hot water. Levens Village shop is a reasonable cycle away and is well stocked, including newspapers. The Black Labrador serves very good meals but is busy so worth booking to be sure of a table. Views from the 'Mushroom' on Scout Scar are worth the climb!

Nice fully serviced pitch

We have just visited this CL which is located in a quiet area in the countryside. It was nice to have a fully serviced pitch with water and waste water connections at each pitch and so we didn't see the need to use the shower on the site. As this is a working farm there is some noise and we were woken before 8.00 every morning with a quad bike going into the fields from the farm directly behind the CL. Due to its location we did find that we were driving quite a bit to reach the main parts of the lakes but that was down to us. Please make sure that you carry rock pegs because you will need them for the hard standings. Although the entrance to the CL from the road is very wide, it was made difficult when leaving due to a large pile of road chippings having been put in the entrance during our stay. Nice pubs in the area which were recommended by the owner.

Enjoyed our break

We came to high gregg really looking forward to being away, we were not disappointed, we really enjoy the peace and tranquility of a site that is well out of the way, had a lovely time and we are hoping to be back again.

Price increase - now £25

We booked this CL as we were taking our e-bikes in for a service at the nearby cycle shop in Staveley. When we booked the CL we were informed at the time that the price had increased to £25 - but we were still happy with the price, especially as all the pitches were fully serviced, and we were pitched right next door to the little shower/toilet pod. The shower was great - our only criticism was nowhere to hang towels/put clothes. There was a tiny stool - which was ok - but not really enough. Had the loo had a seat cover on it that too could have been used - but alas no seat cover. Fortunately we have hanging loops on our towels so we were able to hang our towels from the window latch - not ideal - but better than nothing. Bowness on Windermere was within cycling distance, so after our bike service we cycled there. The Beatrix Potter Museum was delightful. The CL has been given 4 stars for peace and quiet as, at stupid o'clock at night, a couple of low flying aircraft decided to fly over. Now we live near an active RAF station and are used to nighttime flying - but boy - these aircraft were LOW. Another good selling point is the fact that there are a series of glamping pods on the adjoining plot, so this CL is ideal if you want to holiday with family/friends who don't own a caravan/motorhome. It was a lovely site to stay at and the owner was very welcoming. We were glad we had our bikes though as we would have had to have relied on our motorhome for getting out and about.

Stunning Place

What a place! If you want peace and quite accompanied with stunning views then this is the place for you. Jane couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Just one word of warning though - do not trust your Sat Nav to get you here! We ended up on a very, very narrow 'road' which the caravan filled - absolutely no room for anything else. Probably best to ask for the best route in when you're booking.

7 night stay

We arrived home on Sunday after a 7 night stay. A great new site that is already busy but quiet, extra large pitches with electric, waste and water. Small shower room but as we were on service pitch we used the shower in the caravan. Roads can be narrow, but we have a twin axle and it was no issue. Cows walk past behind the pitch on their way for milking, and are quite funny to watch as they stop to almost give you the once over before moving on. Beautiful area, close for exploring the Lakes. The village pub 'The Black Labrador' does great food, but book as soon as you decide, we booked on the sunday for the friday and only had a choice of 2 time slots .Also ate in 'The Wheatsheaf' in Brigsteer, again great food, and both dog friendly, which is a must for us. I can see this gem of a CL becoming very popular and people will need to book well in advance, we will definitely be returning. Jane the owner very accommodating and helpful, nothing to much trouble.

Excellent site

We had a lovely 3 night stop over on the way to Scotland. It was perfect. So quiet. We were early but were able to check in which was great. The owners were very friendly. It is a working farm and you can watch the cows morning and night. My son loved it. The self contained bathroom was great. Very good value for money. Close to Kendal and 20 mins into Windermere. Thank you very much.

Our Stay At High Gregg Hall CL

We stayed here with our 3 dogs for a week in July 2021. Great Pitch, plenty of room, grassy area with picnic table next to pitch, Hook Up, water and Drain on each pitch. Just a short walk away a purpose built shower, toilet and washbasin, very new and modern. Lovely welcome from Jane who we saw several times for a chat. Fresh eggs also available from the farm. Cows walk by the vans twice a day for milking (the other side of the fence) and take their time strolling back. There are 3 well spaced Glamping pods across the way on the hill far enough away from the caravans. There is no dedicated dog walk but enough space to walk dogs on the lead morning and evening. We found a couple of footpaths nearby one walking distance through some houses to reach the fields and the other one at the end of the village if you don't mind walking up a steep hill. The best walk is to drive up to Scout scar which has 2 car parks and is a lovely walk with beautiful wild flowers and dogs can be off the lead. Once you find your way around it is very accessible to Windemere and other well known spots. Sizergh Castle and Barn Farm shop is definitely worth a visit. We very much enjoyed our stay here.
