A little slice of heaven!

We had a fabulous two night break at Highcroft Farm. This CL is a perfect base for accessing the South West Coat Path, we walked from the CL to Ilfracombe along the SWCP and returned to base using the Tarka Trail. Perfect for walkers. The field has a beautiful view and is very quiet apart from lots of busy birds and plenty of wildlife. Definitely recommended if you enjoy walking and being surrounded by peace and tranquility :)

Spacious very quiet site

This site is a basic large grassy field with a tap (theoretically two but we couldn't find the second one!), bins, and waste pit (don't look too closely - it's horrible!). There's a lot of space and it's wonderfully quiet. However, the site description says that the site is "lawned" but it certainly wasn't when we were there - it had very long and very wet grass! It also says that there are views, which is strictly true but they're not particularly inspiring ones. Just because it's close to the coast, don't expect sea views! It does have access to the coast path but bear in mind that it's a mile's walk so not exactly close access. Mr Kift (we didn't see or hear of Jo Kift) only seems to communicate by texts - having tried phoning both numbers and the email address, he responded by text with a detailed list of instructions. We never saw or heard him or anyone else over the 3 nights we stayed there.

Perfect CL just as it should be

This CL has turned out to be the last one we will visit on a seven week tour of the south west in our motorhome. We initially booked in for four nights but are still hear 10 days later with nearly another week booked in. Its just perfect for us. We have toured right round the south west coast from West Dorset along through south Devon and Cornwall and back up through north Devon to here. The two places that stand out as being absolute clear winners for us are the Salcombe Area and here above Lee Bay between Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. The CL is large enough to give everyone plenty of space. Good services with two drinking water taps at opposite sides of the field and a black waste point. Certainly at this time of year with Solar we don't need anything else. Lee Bay below is delightful and even in the heatwave here it never got crowded as there is limited parking. My wife does all the walking and she is delighted with the walks in the area. We carry a small scooter and there is so much to see from here from Lynmouth, Exmoor, Combe Martin, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe, Mortehoe (fantastic chippy) and down to Putsborough and Croyde. Jo the owner is extremely friendly and helpful and responds to emails and texts quickly and is more than happy to offer advice on what to see and do. You can walk down a path straight down to Lee Bay (there is a pub!) but its a bit of a hike back (just over a mile). The drive down is fine but a bit narrow in places. Access to the CL by road from the main road is fine also. A bit narrow in places but they all are and the best thing about that is its right at the end of a single track road that goes nowhere so total peace and quiet are guaranteed. Highly recommended.

A really nice site in a lovely location

We have just had a great four-night break at Highcroft Farm across the late May Bank holiday weekend. The site was lovely and quiet with a maximum of 5 units, with just us on the first night, in a large slightly sloping well mown field with plenty of space. It is a great location for walking with easily accessible footpaths to the coast, a couple of pubs within walking distance and great views of the surrounding countryside. The site owners were very welcoming and friendly.

A hidden gem

What an absolutely delightful site! We had such a lovely stay last week. Perfectly located just a 2km walk from the seafront at Lee, Highcroft Farm is a gem of a location, tucked away down a track in a little village called Lee. From the site we visited Woolacombe, Ilfracome, Saunton Sands, and took two walks down into the village (save your breath for the walk back up, you'll need it!), where we used the little tea rooms and spent some time on the beach. From Lee you can access the coast path to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe making it a fantastic location, particularly for those who like to walk and access the coast path. We had a lovely welcome from the site owner, and the farm itself is quiet and peaceful, the biggest noise being the bleating of sheep. We will definitely return and would highly recommend Highcroft Farm to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet not too far off the beaten track.

Ideal Site

3 years on from my previous review I can only re-iterate what a lovely site it is with the owners so friendly and accommodating but not intrusive. Our families have also started using it and like us continue to find it really good for a quiet getaway. Can't recommend it enough.

Lovely Short break near Lee

We have just spent 6 peaceful nights at Highcroft Farm and so pleased to have found this little gem of a campsite, which is basic, but everything we Look for and enjoy. Using a detailed, local map of walks and cycle routes we were out most days, exploring this beautiful area. Thanks for your hospitality Jo and Simon - we will definately be back.

Peaceful site in North Devon

GPS coordinates 51.187203, -4.162748 (this is the entrance to the field) I am writing this based on my visit in July 2020 with a 8.3m caravan towed by a 4.8M car, I stayed on my own with my cat. The campsite is up a narrow single track road, but don't let that put you off. I messaged the owners first as could see that the turn into the field would be too tight to make from direction of approach (dead end road) they confirmed that I could go past the site and turn in their farm yard, this was a little tight for me but a 3 point turn was easily possible, I did the same upton leaving. Just follow the owners direction in the handbook or online. The site is basic with Chem disposal point and bins, there is no EHU. The Site is quiet and the owners were helpful without being intrusive, they happily gave me excellent directions to the nearest village of Lee using footpaths. I stayed for 3 nights and was able to walk extensively in the area and on the coast path directly from the site (about 20 mins to lee where the coast path is). The field is grass which has been cut to a reasonable length and is sloping in parts so depending on where you pitch leveling blocks may be needed. There are no set pitches but the field is big allowing lots of space. I expect to return in the future.
