Lovely well placed site

Had a 7 night stay here which included the bank holiday. It was great. The site was mowed whilst we were there, with grass pick up. It had been dry so we didn’t experience any problems getting on or off. It is in walking distance of a pub, Sainsbury’s supermarket and the town of Longridge. My husband went fishing 10 minutes away. We had a lovely walk from site. Only 2 of us on which seemed a shame. No problems with electrics.

Decent site overall

We were anxious about the possible state of the ground in the light of other reports here and the fact that we’d had 4 days of constant heavy rain immediately prior to arrival. We needn’t have worried, yes the grass was a tad long (you can’t mow sodden grass) and a little soft underfoot especially at the lower part of the site. With a 4x4 we had no problem getting on or off. Good views from the higher pitches. The only issue with the site is the fact that there aren’t individual EHU trips so if anything goes amiss (which it did) the main consumer unit throws and everyone loses power. This happened four times, three of which were in the early hours so we had to wait until a respectable hour before calling the owners to turn it back on. By a process of elimination the offending caravan was identified as there was no problem after they left. It’s a good walking area and in theory walks are possible from site . Alas most are overgrown and signage disappears, so we ended up using the car to reach better options. Pleasant walk into Longridge where good bus services are available to Preston (every 10 minutes weekdays), Blackburn and Clitheroe. We would return.

Ideal site for us

Easy to find, close enough Longridge for shops, but far enough away to be totally quiet on a night. Large field, the grass may have been a bit long for some, but I would rather it be long than bring grass cuttings into the caravan, comments re 4x4 required not really a problem when we arrived (late May) there was no sign of any grass damage and it did rain before we left, again no problems. Could be different after long period of rain, but same could be said for most grass fields. Ideal location for touring area with plenty of walks and local interest, Blackpool in striking distance, that’s dancing in the tower ballroom for us, get a reduced rate through club membership offers. Tap had decent pressure and hozelock connect as it becoming the norm these days and makes connection simple, toilet disposal was manhole again all efficient, what more can you ask for £12 per night. Thoroughly recommend site.

Soft ground field.

On arrival, we were advised to walk around the pitch files which was a filed with a few electric hook ups. There had been some fairly heavy rain overnight and this combined with unmown tall grass on uneven ground contributed to my outfit becoming quickly bogged down so that I was unable to manoeuvre into position and had to ask the owner to rescue us with a tractor. Unless you are towing with a four wheel drive (preferably a Landrover) with town & country tyres, don't try to use this site. After struggling for half an hour to position our caravan and becoming very dirty with mud we gave up and left the site. We will not be using this site in future.

Very peaceful

Big open field with good views of surrounding hills and friendly owner. Comments about v soft ground in previous reviews are well made. 10 minute walk to local pub (Alston Arms) which had well-above average food.

A few niggles

The site is much larger than described with lots of space between pitches and a clean toilet, quite a long walk from the pitches, with ample paper and soap. It's in a great location with a 15-20 minute walk to town. Try and plan your trip for the August BH weekend as the local cricket club, 10 minute walk, host a beer and cider festival that starts on Friday and finishes on Sunday. Good TV reception and 3G on Three network. The niggles - it is on very soft ground so if you're in a motorhome stay at the top of the field. If you go to the bottom, and it's very wet, only do so if you have a 4x4. The power tripped out on several occasions. Yes it was BH and a full site but this should not happen especially at 2.30am! It had rained a lot so the grass had not been cut very short making it very wet. Finally, they have a large dog which you have to run the gauntlet to get to the toilet. She's not going to bite but she does get excited and jump up. Obviously, for those of you that don't 'do' dogs this would be an issue.

Nice site

Stayed single night on way to Scotland. Nice site and well maintained. One more of caution the ground is VERY soft so be very careful where you pitch. We have a 3.5 time motor home and had immense troubles getting out as we went down to our axles. It hasn't rained for ages at home and the ground wasn't particularly soft on the site. Nice place but just be mindful.

Lovely peaceful site

We have been twice now and will be going back next year. So handy to walk to the pub! Which did lovely homemade food. It even told you where the food was sourced. Made to feel very welcome by the site owners.

Lovely CL

As previous reviews have said this CL is a large field all grass a little uneven but grass was short enough.  Toilet is great. There are some nice walks close by.  Arrived on Friday night owner came out pointed me in the right direction and added if I get stuck they can pull me out (3.5t Motorhome) the pitch was only a slight hill but sure enough the ground was a little soft and I was stuck come Sunday AM.  Paul the owners friend tried to pull me out but due to not being able to locate the towing eye it was all to no avail he tried every car and van close by for a towing eye but none of them would fit. I finished up calling out the AA who had a towing eye to fit and then Paul did his stuff.  I will definitely go back as its only 1 hour from home but by then I wil have bought myself a towing eye that fits !
