Great site, peaceful and flat hardstanding

Lovely site, fantastic hard standing pitches, very quiet during the night, good chemical waste disposal, ignore previous reviews from a few years ago about chemical waste point. Will use this site again, first class.

review March 2023

As this site has not been reviewed for a while I thought I would do one. We had a very enjoyable 2 days at the site with friends (the site was halfway between us). We walked to Charwelton across fields which was nice. A pretty village with a good pub. We walked to the Red Lion (approx 0.75miles) in the evening - a great pub. We walked back along the road in the dark with high viz and lights. Not a problem but we stepped onto the verge when we heard a car for extra protection. Owners were nice. There is a chemical disposal unit on the site now. A bit muddy at the moment but will grass over in due course. All in all a no nonsense quiet site with no annoying extra charges.

Lovely visit as usual 😊😊

We have just returned from yet another visit to this peaceful site. We stop here often to visit family and friends its always so quiet with lovely views. The owners are pleasant and friendly so a little jaunt down to empty the toilet is always a pleasure. Loads of lovely walks in the area straight from the site, and the pub at Hellidon is only 10 min on foot with a pleasant beer garden. We will definitely return, highly recommended. 👍

Nice site...

We stayed for a few nights in August. Level site with plenty of room. Tree at gate needed pruning back. Toilet disposal is a very short car ride away, but no problem. Walking opportunities from the site, and we were pleasantly surprised by Daventry...

Cracking Little Site

Set in tranquil countryside, four miles from the charming little town of Daventry. We received a friendly welcome from the site owner who showed us the facilities, then allowed us to enjoy our stay unhindered. Previous comments regarding chemical toilet disposal were found to be unfounded. Each morning we loaded our w.c. cassette into the car with recycling, grey waste water etc. plenty of parking in the farmyard. With virtually no traffic this site is so quiet, we will be making this a regular stop when visiting relations in the area.

Wonderfully relaxing views

We spent 2 nights here and would definitely return. The site is level and well draining with views across the fields. While we were there the next door field had young calves which was an added bonus. Previous comments about the distance to reach the elsan disposal are fair. This is at the farm and if your cassette is not on wheels would probably require you to drive. However, the building work is now complete so once in the yard, the manhole accessible. There are now self catering units by the farmhouse if you have friends without a motorhome/caravan. The only noise was birds and the occasional barking of the farm dogs, and the stars were bright as there is no light pollution. Lovely site and welcoming owner.

Beautiful, peaceful site perfect for a relaxing weekend or longer.

We visited this site at the beginning of December 2017. It has lovely views and is so peaceful, absolutely no road noise just the birds and the occasional cow or sheep. We went on an interesting walk that travelled alongside the Catesby tunnel, an amazing feat of construction dating back to 1897. The walk also included a section of the Jurassic Way that on the whole is well signposted. The weather had been wet and the walk included ploughed fields so be prepared with stout footwear and gaiters. There is what looked to be an inviting pub in the nearby village of Charwelton, it was outside of opening times when we walked through the village so we were unable to sample the food or drink. The Red Lion at Hellidon, another village close by, is shut at present and judging by the skips outside is in the process of being renovated. Mrs North is having 3 holiday lets built that should be available for next year. They will be ideal if friends or relatives without a caravan/motorhome wanted to join in and experience the peaceful surroundings. We would definitely visit again

Elson problems

Site is quite and views are ok , there is a secured gate with padlock when in and out , BUT the ELSON point is a nightmare, they are having building work done and the Elson point is behind the new build which at present has scaffolding , this you have to manuvere around, then is just a man hole with a watering can, This is at least 300 yds if not more away from site. so really not good for those of us not extremely fit and able . Would only use again if the elson point was near to the site .

Enjoyable Stay

Stayed here in April 2017 in our caravan. Site was a joy to visit. Good, level, well laid out site with easy access in tranquil, quiet, surroundings. Power points easily available. Liquid waste disposal at the nearby farm yard. Canons Ashby and interesting walks to villages and pubs nearby.

Good weekend break.

This is the second time we have stayed on this CL and after talking to the owner I found that this site is not being used much. This is a shame so I decided that a review may help others to at least try it. The site is very peaceful and all pitches are hard standing with hedging on two sides and lovely views over the working farm comprising of cattle and sheep.  The site is level and secured by a five bar gate with combination lock. The only down side is that the chemical disposal point is located at the farmhouse which is approx. 300 yards up the drive although not really a problem when put in the back of a car and driven up to empty. If you want a quiet relaxed stay then give it a try.
