Convenient overnight stopWe used this CL

We used this CL as a convenient stop heading north to the Highlands, it being quite close to the A74M near Lockerbie. Easy to find just on the edge of Lochmaben and good access for our twin axle. There are two hardstandings with electric, just inside the gate, and a further two without EHU. Otherwise, there are EHUs along the edge of the site on grass. The site is rather sloping on most of the grassed area, making it difficult to pitch longer outfits (we were able to get a hard standing). The grass was thick and lush on our visit and it was mowed shortly after our arrival. Unfortunately, the grass cuttings were not collected, making a horrendous mess whenever trekking to the water, EHU or chemical waste points. The chemical disposal point was a septic tank with a hatch to empty into it, though on our visit it was virtually full and rather unpleasant. Also the adjacent A709 can get quite busy, and noisy, at times though no problem at night. Didn’t have time to visit the surrounding area but the Kirk Loch in Lochmaben looked attractive and we had a decent meal in the Crown Hotel in the village.
