First trip this year

Stayed two nights here with the intention of giving our outfit a try-out following a refit over the winter because it's only a half-hour drive from home. It's a nice little site, surrounded by fields and overlooking the sea. The site is clean and tidy and very peaceful, with nice walks along the cliffs from nearby. It can be a bit chilly if the wind is from the north-east because the site is exposed to the wind from that direction. Eastchurch village itself is very quaint and is best known as being the birthplace of British military aviation. The beautiful church in the village is also the burial place of Vice-Admiral Sir Richard King (one of the top commanders of the 'Nelsons Navy' era) who was Captain of HMS Achille during the Battle of Trafalgar. The seaside resort of Leysdown with it's arcades and nice beaches (including a naturist beach if that floats your boat) and massive Sunday Boot Fair and Market is only a ten-minute drive away. The nearest big town is Sheerness, which to be honest is a bit of a dump, but it has a large Tesco supermarket and a Wetherspoons. There's also a large Morrisons at Queenborough, about a fifteen-minute drive back towards the bridge onto the Island.
