Ease of arrival/welcome

Summer holiday

On arrival the sun was out and our initial reaction to the site was wonderful. As we had booked by phone we were told which pitch to go on but on arrival, someone else was on it. No one came out to welcome us so we phoned. The owner said he would come right out but in actual fact we were kept waiting a good 5/10 minutes before Jaik appeared. He was extremely apologetic regards pitch 1 being occupied and offered us the grass pitch at the back of the site. We were really wanting a hard standing but proceeded with the grass pitch as it would allow us more room for our awning. Later on Jaik appeared with the information sheet and did answer our questions. The wooden toilet/shower block which also housed the bins, the washing machine and the chemical waste was basic to say the least. The shower was unpleasant with rust and was also chargeable which we decided not to use and used our own in the van. There was another toilet block which had a ladies and gents cubicle and urinals which meant that if you chose to lock the outer door, no-one else could access them, alternatively women could have the pleasure of seeing men standing at the urinals if they chose not to lock the outer door - not the best set up in my opinion. Also they were quite 'smelly'. I feel the site has the basis of being a wonderful little site as there is a lovely dog walk and the entire place is situated amongst beautiful countryside. A little TLC with some good cleaning and trimming of hedges and it would be perfect!

I'm sorry the CL didn't come up to your expectations. I've taken on board your comments and will endeavour to make the appropriate changes. Cleaning has been increased, pitch allocating has been stopped and as the latest photographs show, I am in the process of cutting all the hedges, as you suggested, so I'm getting there! Also, the wooden toilet/shower block has to be of a fairly basic wooden construction as it is near to a Grade 2 listed farm house, so as you can hopefully appreciate, I didn’t want to spoil the look of the 17th century house too much, as shown in the photograph. The design of this block was also recommended by the CAMC when I first set up the CL. Thanks.
