Ease of arrival/welcome

Good site if completely dry!

So we booked this site just 2 days before we arrived. When we arrived we were told which spot was ours, which was a hard standing pitch but you needed to cross grass to get onto it and the ground was like a swamp. Obviously they can’t be held responsible for the weather but we weren’t allowed on the nearest one, despite it being empty. In fact the whole site was empty - we were the only ones there. The site is on a hill, and water runs down, so even on the 2nd pitch the ground around us was a complete mud. We were told not to put our car on the grass which meant walking back and forward from the entrance - but to be honest I am glad we didn’t put the car in the grass (we moved the caravan on the mover). Unfortunately 1 day into our stay we had a call from home about problems with our house and had to leave. The site owner gave us back less than half of the money we paid, even though we had been on site less than 20 hours! They didn’t refuse anyone else as we were the only ones there, so ended up paying nearly £30 for a 20 hour stay. Left a very bad taste given the problems we had at home. Won’t be returning.

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for your review. The CL owner has been in touch as she works very hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time on their site and do their utmost to help and assist guests and maintain their site to excellent standards. At the time of your stay there was flooding in many parts of the country with some sites even having to evacuate guests but fortunately the CL Site has hardstandings available to cope with the weather. The CL owner allocated you the second hardstanding pitch when she greeted you on arrival to try and make life easier for you. The first hardstanding pitch had previously been reserved for a motorhome which arrived the next day after your early departure. The distance from the car to the pitch is approximately 20 steps and they need to ensure the grass is not churned up which would cause further issues in bad weather. They refunded part of your booking when you advised you were leaving early as a gesture of goodwill and their booking terms are communicated to guests before arrival on site. An offer was also made that the booking could be taken later in the season. I hope this addresses any misunderstanding and we are sorry you had to leave the site early and your enjoyment of the site was impeded by the bad weather the UK was experiencing.
