A perfect site in Dartmoor!

We visited here for just over a week and it met all of our needs. Easy access just a couple of miles off the A30. Particularly liked the location as it was far enough from the main roads to be peaceful. You get a few cars coming down the country road in the day but none in the evening so we had a very good sleep every night! The views across the valley are really nice and the site itself is very well maintained. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had one small issue which was a electricity charge on top of the £18 per night which we were not aware. However, it is only an extra £0.29 a unit, for us in a large caravan this equalled an extra £3 a day. I believe this is due to people using a lot more electric in winter due to the need for heating. There is easy access to Exeter down the A30 whilst also only being 30 minutes from the coast. We would love to come back as we had a fantastic stay!

A little bit of paradise

Arrived late summer afternoon, glorious position looking down into the valley. Beautifully kept, lovely warm welcome from Geoff.

A beautiful tranquil spot

A beautiful basic CL but it felt like so much more. Lovely helpful owners and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. No shower or toilet but that's fine. Good level grass pitches both with and without EHU. Very reasonable £18 with EHU or £14 without. Views to die for from every pitch and a huge field for dogs to run in. Great walks from the site. I hope to return sometime.

Stunning location - just follow the directions, not sat nav

Enjoyed a lovely stay here; absolutely beautiful location on a hill with long views out to Dartmoor. Very friendly welcome from the owner who clearly takes great pride in the upkeep and appearance of the site. This is a very quiet site with great views but not much else to hand; perfect for a quiet relaxing stay on the doorstep of Dartmoor. There are two ways to approach this site, which is located on a very narrow single track lane. You can approach from the north east with ease in a campervan or pulling a caravan, as there are numerous long passing places and a very wide entrance gate. OR you can try and approach from the south west following sat nav or Google maps if you're already inside Dartmoor. And this will take you along miles of very narrow lanes with plants brushing both sides of your campervan, and is completely impossible with a caravan, given the bear total lack of passing places. So, read the instructions and head in from the north east and enjoy one of the loveliest stays imaginable. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful location

Amazing views from this lovely, level, clean and tidy site. Warm welcome from owners and lots of useful, local information available from the site shed. Walking distance from Dunsford Nature Reserve with its woodland walks. Will definitely be returning.

Beautiful and Peaceful Site

We stayed a couple of nights on this CL and were very impressed with it. The views were stunning over open countryside and the short cropped grass pitches were totally level. The owners were really welcoming, friendly and gave us some interesting information about the area. No showers or toilet (which we knew before we booked) and at £16 per night in July was good value. Lovely walks in the area especially along the river...but mind the stepping stones as they wobble! We would definitely stay here again

Relaxation at its best

We stayed at Holeacre CL site for a full 28 days and loved every minute. Geoff and Joyce are just so lovely. If anyone needed help with anything they were both on hand. The site is so well kept and very tidy. The views are amazing. We were so sad to leave, as was our cat, who ran off just as we were about to depart! Thank you Joyce and Geoff

A walker’s paradise

One of the best CLs we have ever visited with spectacular views across to Dartmoor. Mr and Mrs Dicker are delightful owners, providing great information and also a grass grid for outside of our vans when it was a bit wet. Our friends did the 5 mile walk from Castle Drogo and pronounced it stunning. And they were able to take their dog for twice daily walks around the adjacent field. Less confident towers could be slightly put off by the singletrack access road, but the route provided by the owners ensures that it’s only a very short stretch. We were able to try out our new reversing camera for the first time and that was brilliant. We are not big pub goers so it was not a problem for us that most of the local hostelries were a 10 to 15 mile drive away. However, if you like a walk for a pint, then it is a little bit far. Can’t recommend this site enough. A delight for three days. Thank you.

Amazing Views

We stopped for one night on our way further west but would definitely like to return and explore the area further. The site has level pitches and the grass was beautifully mown (with grass picked up). The owners were very welcoming and, as we were on the hard standing near the building, even let us use their hook up cable to save getting ours out. There are amazing views from the site across the surrounding countryside towards Dartmoor. The site is nice and dark so ideal for some star-gazing.Although we didn't get chance to explore the area there is information in the wooden hut about walks and activities in the area. The rubbish and water facilities were well looked after and clearly labeled.

Perfect, friendly, helpful & peaceful

We stayed two nights a week or so ago. Mr & Mrs Dicker could not have been more helpful & kind. We had a flat van battery & Mr Dicker went above & beyond to help us which took the stress out of the experience (entirely our own fault). The site has exceptional views, fantastic dog walks & close to Dartmoor. We needed to be near to Exeter so that was ideal for visiting there too. We will be back! Thank you so much Mr & Mrs Dicker :-)
