Idyllic location

We have just returned from 2 nights stay in our campervan. The owners are so very welcoming and the location and view is just superb. Beautifully kept, clean and tidy. Lovely walks to the river from the site so you don't even have to drive out. Can highly recommend!

Excellent Site

This was our first visit to this CL but it didn't disappoint. Level grass pitches all affording a superb view across the valley towards Whiddon Down. Good walking from the site with the option of exercising the dogs off the lead (when no sheep present) in the adjacent field. Friendly owners who keep the site spotless - close mown grass (all picked up); recycling and excellent information hut. Approach from Cheriton Bishop is a bit narrow but there are plenty of passing places on the lane. Excellent value at £12 a night - highly recommended if you appreciate peace and quiet.

Dartmoor Joy

If you like country views from your caravan window this is the place to come, you will be looking out across a part of Dartmoor. Geoff and Joyce made us really welcome and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them, they quickly helped us when we had a leak in the van, and offered to dry our carpets for us. The site is high up and kept in pristine condition, plenty of room between the pitches and the grass mown like a lawn and picked up.The little hut contained books and maps and Jam and lots of useful info. There are so many places from the site where you can walk, and a mile trip down to river level allows you to join the many wooded walks along the river. We have had a really enjoyable week here and are looking forward to when we can return.

Marvellous and friendly

A very basic site with just water and chemical disposal, but a lovely location. We visited in late April and were able to sit outside our caravan and watch the sun set over the hills, it was a lovely view. Be sure not to miss the entrance as the road goes very narrow and downhill after the site, it would cause problems for a car/caravan combination! The owners were very friendly, we stayed for a weekend and on the Sunday morning we were packing up to go, the owner suggested that we could stay and leave later in the day. We couldn't do it on this occasion but it is something we often like to do and the offer was well appreciated. The site does seem to be surrounded by small roads and driving anywhere took time, but that is the charm of Dartmoor. A site I would thoroughly recommend.

Hidden Gem

This has to be one of the best sites in Devon. Lovely warm welcome on arrival & views all the way to Dartmoor. Information room has been exceptionally well thought out & contains very useful information packs covering the local area. Those people with dogs are well looked after with a huge field to exercise them in.

Simply a wonderful intro.....

So, we chose Holeacre to be our first. First trip anywhere with our new van...first van... first CL...and we couldn't have chosen better. Geoff was aware we were caravan "virgins" and was quick to assure us, nothing would be too much trouble. For us, it's just about an hour to the site, and as we have 3.5 dogs,we wanted not to be a nuisance. The site, was clearly marked and easily found. It has superb views-even through the sleet! And for the dogs, a fabulous area, adjacent to the site, which you could walk from as long as you wanted. It's beautifully kept, and a credit to the CC and the owners. We WILL be back again soon, and shall make this our bolt hole for future weekends away. Thank you very much Holeacre 👍

Stunning Location

This is a beautiful CL with immaculately maintained facilities.  Geoff and Joyce were extremely welcoming and attentive, even coming out to welcome us in the pouring rain. The site has fantastic views over to Dartmoor with easy access to the Teign Valley and many local attractions and lovely pubs.   Overall a stunning CL

Fabulous views

A belated review of this wonderful CL due to us being away for a while. We visited over the late May Bank holiday for 10 days. A wonderful sight with spectacular views down into a valley. The site was well maintained with good and easy access to the water, waste water etc. Geoff and his lovely wife were very welcoming and were great hosts. The information packs available were a nice touch. The approach to the site is via a very narrow lane with passing places. It is an agricultural area and so you sometimes meet tractors and machinery on the narrow lanes. On exiting the site Mrs Dicker offered to escort us to the main road as we have quite a large outfit and fortunately for us she stopped a tractor and large full trailer near the entrance to the lane. The weather was good for most if our ten day stay and we explored Dartmoor, nearby National Trust properties and the South Devon Railway all within short driving distances. On the days that we stayed in the caravan we were entertained by the ewes and lambs that were brought into the field in front of us each morning. This site is a hidden gem.  It's one of the two best CL items that we haven visited.  We will be back!

Location Location location

This site has to be one of the best CL's in Devon. The facilities and condition of the the site are stunning. As the site overlooks Dartmoor and is quite exposed the extra storm awning tie-downs are advisable if your stay is in windy conditions. The drive from Cheriton Bishop to the site involves some single track roads but has numerous passing places as you expect in a peaceful part of Devon, so we be visiting again asap..
