stop over

Chose Hortham Farm as a 4 night stop over on way down to Cornwall, perranporth, because its not a great distance from M5 J16. Found the site very easily thanks to Mr Woods instructions. What a lovely site, it is made up of 2 fields, field view which we were on, which has lovely high hedges around each pitch, very private, lovely to watch the birds if you have a bird feeder like us, and a lovely field at the front, which Mr Wood kindly mowed a path around so you can walk the dog. And wood view field overlooking the farms woodland, which if you have a dog is idilic to walk around. Great place to stop over and visit Bristol and the Clifton suspension bridge, and a short drive away is the small market town of Thornbury which has a lovely long high street with lovely shops and lots of cafe,s and eateries. We will definatly be returning again.

First Rate Stopover.

We have stayed here previously on our way to Woolacombe. Oakleigh and Annalisa are very welcoming. They both went the extra mile and we would recommend this CL site. We are back again to break our journey home. Next time we will be staying longer not just overnight.

A great site for Bristol & the surrounding area

This site is excellent. We stayed for six nights over the Easter weekend and when we next visit our daughter in Bristol we will come again. It is easily accessed from the M4/M5 and is a great base for visiting Bristol and the surrounding area. The pitches are level and each of the five pitches is screened from the others and the road by high bushes so one can be as private as one wants. There is also a large field in front which gives space as well. Whilst it is close to the M5 the noise is not a problem and there is little traffic on the adjacent road. The owner, Oakleigh Wood also runs a workshop for caravans and motorhomes so one could have one's outfit serviced whilst here. We certainly needed help the afternoon we arrived discovering we had a seized toilet pump, despite our van having just been serviced prior to our visit. Fortunately Oakleigh was able to assist us by providing a replacement and assisting in fitting it without delay. A great site!!

Glad to help

The title of this review reflects Oakleigh Wood's reply to our note of gratitude for helping us out at a time of a family bereavement. We were already booked for 2 nights over Easter to give us a trip to see family and take out our poorly relative. Unfortunately the weekend before he passed away, with several trips to Bristol over his last days. We needed respite to make the necessary arrangements and called Oakleigh late on Tuesday morning enquiring if he could help us out. He did and we pulled up a few hours later. It was good to see the continued investment in this lovely CL since our last visit, with a new CDP waste point and drinking water tap. The lockable gates to the CL. The chipping access way through the CL to each of the 5 pitches, and provision of hard standing for tow car / Motorhome. The hedges dividing each pitch are maturing nicely. The grass pitches in the morning sun were glorious to walk on. The children playing peacefully is what this caravanning lark is all about. Thanks again Oakleigh, we will see you again, often. We took in the view of the 2 Severn Crossings as we headed to and fro Bristol each day, something we had not noticed before.

Great CL

email booking followed up by comprehensive directions. Self check-in easy. Individual pitches part grass and part chipping hardstanding, separated by lines of shrubs and small trees. Hardstanding plenty big enough. Water, waste disposal and recycle all next to field entrance. Easy walk to bus stops for Bristol. Convenient for a range of attractions.

Nice private pitches

Easily accessible from both motorways M4 and M5 although this does cause slight background noise. High hedges between each pitch gives good privacy. Water, electric and chemical waste very close. Good information given by email on booking.

M4 M5 TRIANGLE!

This site is situated in the M4 M5 triangle so there is a constant hum of traffic. There is a notice on the driveway saying that caravans stop and caravanners go to the wooden shed, there are envelopes with names on, which field to go in and to put the site fees in, problem we had was 2 of us with same name and we parked in the wrong field. Plenty of information and a map of a nice walk through the woods where a geocache can be found. The pitches are hedged on 3 sides but in Field View you only see grass. We did not see the owner at all in the 3 days we were there.

A great stop-over

We stayed here 4weeks ago, Its a lovely quiet spot, the owner came and greeted us which is a nice touch, he gave us good information about our onward journey and what time to set off to avoid the queues on the way to Cornwall, we were very greatful for that info, and we will use this C.L. again, we did ask for the return journey but he was full, perhaps next time we will do a few nights here as the area looked nice. I would recommend it as a good stop-over.

Nice & Easy

Recently stopped here enroute back from a 2 week holiday on cornwall to break the journey up as roughly half way. Nice and easy in booking the CL with excellent and easy directions to it. We have a large motorhome and also tow a car and access to the site was easy good signs and information on the site made it a doddle to locate my pitch and where amenities where situated. The Pitch was nice and secluded with both hard standing a grassed area and nice hedges for privacy, minor noise can be heard from the M5 interchange however not enough to even bother you. Electrics water and a decent elsan point. Will certainly remember for next years half way stopover
