Final site of the September Autumn Gold 2020 tour

This was an unexpected bonus extra night on the 2020 Autumn Gold September tour during the return home to S.West Scotland. It is in a beautiful valley and river location just a couple of miles on from the top end of Moffat. The booking was straightforward and easy to do and clear instructions given as how to arrive at the site. Yes the site is up a cul-de-sac lane which is narrow in some parts but very little traffic was using it during the stay so no problems and well worth the few minutes of concern about a vehicle coming the other way ... passing places exist anyway! The 5/6 hardstandings at the site are narrow for sure but there is plenty of space either side of them to pitch an awning if desirable ... a couple had picnic benches as well Didn't see any 'pools of water' on the hardstandings even though the arrival was in rain conditions. 2 Water taps were available and no more than a few metres from any of the hardstandings. The spotless and clean single shower and toilet amenity block was fine though I do agree there was a small area of flaky paint on one wall so a lick of paint would brighten it all up. The CDP and grey waste disposal was no problem at all and included a good length of hose attached to a water tap for cleaning down. On the evening of the stay the skies cleared revealing a plethora of stars to wonder at whilst listening to owls on the prowl. The following day dawned lovely and sunny with fingers of mist on the hills and above the line of the river. This site hit the mark and finished of the tour in delightful fashion. A Gem not to be missed and for sure is a 'return to' site

Lovely views but needs TLC

Terrific views and very peaceful. Good spacious washroom facilities. Limited manoeuvring space and hard standings very small. Our 7 metre caravan stuck out a bit. Some of the hard standings had pooled water. Would have struggled with an awning as grass looked as if had not been cut for some months. Definitely a site for smaller units. The only grey water point was the chemical disposal point that involved lifting the waste container nearly 30cm. All things considered expensive at £17 a night plus 50 pence for a dog and £1 for an awning. Needs more regular attention.

Expensive but idyllic.....

The cost of the site was £17 per night and we had to pay 50 pence for the dog. This is the most we have paid for a night out in our van. There is no TV reception and no mobile network so if you want to get away from it all this is an ideal place for you. The scenery was fantastic and very nice and quiet. The shower was clean and Mrs long was so friendly when collecting the monies. Overall an expensive rate but ideal if you want to spend time talking to your travel companion.

Quiet and beautiful

A lovely if very small site. So peaceful and beautiful views. Moffat is a very friendly town with all you could need. If you are there when the farmer's market is on, we can recommend the fish man and also the pie stall. Top quality food. Also, have dinner at Claudio's, it was exceptional food. Visit the Devil's Beef Tub and have a look at the bottom.....

Expensive for what is is

The Site is £17 a night even though it shows £15 0n the website. The pitches are hard standing but very small. The grass was very long while we was there. To get to this site you go down a very long narrow lane, about 2 1/2 miles long, there is passing places but there is tractors going up and down all day long. I think it is expensive for what you get.

Great site for Moffat and surroundings

We stayed on this site for 4 days last week. We were met on night one by the owner Elizabeth who was very friendly and helpful. She worked hard to ensure that the loo and shower block were kept clean and supplies topped up. This is an excellent site from which to explore both Moffat and such local scenic wonders as the Devils Beef Tub both of which can be reached on foot from this site. The pitches are hard standing so this site would be useable year round. We would return.

Great site to stopover when travelling up or down M74

Lovely site. Easy to find down a quiet road. Level hard standing. Owner very friendly and helpful. Grass well cut round pitches and a lovely meadow left at side. Perfect overnight start and end for our holiday in Scotland.

Lovely little site

We just spent 3 nights on this lovely, quiet site. Owner was a delightful lady. Fantastic views of the Moffat hills. Good walk into Moffat along the river, and a good base for some great walks in upper Annandale. The toilet and shower are clean and adequate.

Perfect stop off

Stayed just a night heading south. Very tidy site with all you need perfectly provided. Situated up a quiet road almost level lane out of Moffat. We wished we could have spent more time and got out and about on bikes. Pitches are level and hard (gravel) lovely views around and river close by. Never saw owner but all dealt with efficiently by telephone and money left as requested.

Don't tell anyone about this piece of heaven.

Planned one night, but stayed for eight. No internet, no telephone signal on my network, absolute heaven. Overlooking a river and the length of the valley with perfect tranquility and only a couple of miles into Moffat which has very good pubs and shops. Access was easy and the welcome from Elizabeth couldn't be more helpful. This is my first review for anywhere, and I can't wait to return for at least another week. Mark & Sue.
