Ease of arrival/welcome

not for the faint hearted

To get to this cl, be aware that you have to negotiate some very narrow lanes with no passing points, and no way to reverse due to winding nature of the lanes. When you arrive there are no visible signs in front unless you have come from the opposite direction. You cannot turn in from the right. You have to drive past by 100 yards, then turn right into the farmyard and again its very tight. Once through the gateway, turn right again and its still very tight. Go through the farmyard and exit back onto the road going left through another very narrow gateway going back towards the main road and you will see the gate with the cl sign on it about 20 yards ahead. The only other way to know you are in the right place is if there are other vans on the site. The facilities are not good. There is clear evidence that no cleaning takes place. The coin meter for the electric is in the ladies toilet and this is not good when you are sitting in the cubicle and a man enters to put money in for a shower! The toilet cubicle is extremely narrow and you have to edge down the side of the toilet to shut the door! The men's is a little better but still quite grotty, the floors haven't been mopped or swept and the doors are covered in cobwebs and dirt. The shower is expensive at £1 and as we didn't use the shower, again because it was quite dirty, we didn't find out how long your money lasted. The laundry facilities are not really as you would expect. A sink in the ladies toilet with no hot water other than a prepay meter, I believe, for the hot water heater. The fields are full of cattle as we expected on a working farm but there was nowhere to walk the dogs off site or on. The roads are too narrow with speeding cars to walk with dogs. The farm dog is very friendly towards other dogs but be aware it will attempt to urinate up your awning and other equipment if you let it as it is allowed to run free. It does not like being told to go away and growled at us when we tried to shoosh it away from urinating on our equipment. When we spoke to Mr Watkins he was not happy even though the dog continued to growl at us while talking. This site is most remote and the views are outstanding. The cost is quite good but definitely not for us. There may also be caravans permanently sited as the cable for these was buried in the ground. This is not what I expect as it breaks the rules for the cl sites.
