Peaceful with beautiful views

This site is far away from the main road which makes it very quiet and peaceful. Views across the Solway to the mountains of the Lake District are stunning. Museum staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The museum itself and the nearby Nearly Lost Gardens of Arbigland a must to visit. Lovely walks in the surrounding estate with a superb beach walk to nearby Carsethorn and the excellent Steamboat Inn where a lovely meal can be had. The comings and goings of the museum were not intrusive and gave a pleasant and gentle background livlieness. In the evening it was very quiet. Toilet facilities very clean. Loads of interesting places to visit round about - Mersehead Reserve being outstanding. Lots of historical sites and places of natural beauty ranging from dense forest and hills to wide open beaches all full of wildlife. In spite of no electric hookup or shower this is a delightful place to stay. We have a great affection for this site and will visit often. Barbara and Anne Marie, Highland Perthshire. July, 2019.
