The views from the CL are stunning - in between Lake District clouds! And a motor mover is pretty much essential here - especially if the ground is wet. However, for a CL in such a beautiful location, a little bit of investment to sort drainage, mark out and perhaps extend and level the pitches a little would be most welcomed. Our pitch by the stile got muddier and muddier as our stay progressed with all the rainwater coming down the drive and settling around our van. A motorhome came in during our stay and made a mess of trying to get in the top pitch by the barn and ended up parking up on the bottom - very close to other units and running their electric lead right across the site. With the 3 bottom pitches not marked out clearly, it was difficult to know what space we had and had we wished to erect an awning, would have struggled to know where to put our vehicle - especially as the middle caravan on our arrival had gone in sideways. We love CLs dearly - and in comparison to many others now, we felt Kiln Hill Barn to be tired. Be careful on arrival - the site does creep up! We missed the entrance first time, but there is safe turning a little further on. In fact, turning into the site from the right is a lot easier! Very easy electronic payment from the owners. So apologies for the slightly negative review - it is, as it was!
