Weekend Break with friends

What a fantastic site everything about it is great, lovely views, friendly and helpful owners, large pitches which drained well considering the torrential rain we experienced whist staying there. We all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Everything we wanted

Just returned from 4 nights at Kirby Farm and all that we had read from earlier reviews was right. We were welcomed on site by Ros and Tom who were very friendly and accommodating . Ros said she would call back when we were set up and talk us through the welcome pack, which she did brilliantly. The weather was not as kind as we had hoped and torrential rain was a frequent visitor, but that did not pose any problems getting on or off site even though I do not have a 4x4. The site itself is spacious and the power and water supplies well positioned, so if you want isolation you can have it. Peace and tranquility what more could you want, we shall certainly return.

Wonderful Site.

Kirby Farm Caravan Site is all that we required to finish a two week jaunt of 1560 miles, including Scotland, the Lakes, East Yorkshire and Warwickshire. Tom & Ros are charming people and nothing was too much trouble for them. The farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and with Shakespear themes in Stratford upon Avon there was plenty for the theatre goers to see. For the more mechanically minded The British Motor Museum is at Gaydon is a must, as is Vulcan bomber XM655 at Wellesbourne Airfield usually open to visitors on most Saturdays. The nearby hamlet of Oxhill has a Pub/Restraunt called The Peacock which serves a nice pint of Doombar bitter. About a mile from the site is the village of Tysoe which has a well stocked village store. The site is approximately half a mile from the main road on a well maintained concrete drive with passing places. While we were at Kirby the weather was very damp, but the owners kindly offered us another night on site at their expense due to the possible difficulty in moving our rig. We declined this kind offer, so Thomas had us towed off-site to continue our journey home. I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Kirby Farm to other CL users. Thanks Tom & Ros.

Quiet and rural

5 pitches that are massive, separated by hedging (still growing at present). Each has access to an electric point, which can be used by more than one pitch, so you can choose the one your electric cable will reach. There are water taps on each pitch, with some having two. This means you can position yourself on a pitch and to allow you to have water 'on tap'. The siting of the taps/electric could mean you are off to one side of the pitch and closer to your neighbours, but the pitches are so large you are still not on top of each other. The pitches furthest from the drive are raised slightly higher, giving more views, though all the pitches have a pleasant outlook.  Nearly all the pitches are flat, or require very little chocking.  The field gets the sun all day.  Bin and recycling available, plus the waste disposal was easy to use, with a hose for washing off/out your cassette. Access to the site is wide and easy to swing into or out of. Site is so quiet you could hear the bees buzzing in the flowers! Nice welcome to the site, and an information leaflet is given with details on local places to visit/eat at. The Wi-Fi struggles to reach the end pitches from inside your caravan. We could only pick it up on one device. O2 had H+ but EE 4g. Lots of National Trust properties within an hour, plus many other attractions. Recommend coming in from the A422 and following the instructions on the site website. Overall a really nice site, that we will visit again.

4 nights of bliss

We have just enjoyed 4 nights at this lovely CL,sited at the far end of the large field away from the road with our own tap and electric.Grass was mown short and picked up just after our arrival. Plenty of birds to watch and listen to including a pair of pheasants, saw a hare early each morning in the next field. Handy for Stratford upon Avon,Banbury, and Shipston on Stour (fish & chips). Visited Charlecote Park and Upton House while there. Thankyou Carol for the welcome, hopefully we will return soon.B & B

The perfect CL

Enjoyed a weekend on this perfect CL. A large field means everybody has plenty of space. With water taps by each pitch we were able to 'plumb in' and avoid the chore of fetching water. This is a beautiful area and we enjoyed cycling on the miles of quiet roads and Sustrans routes in the area. With peace and quiet and lovely views we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at Kirby Farm and would highly recommend.

Large quiet site

Firstly we must emphasize that this is a beautifully kept and very spacious site. All good CL amenities and very peaceful, being far from a public road. However we had a problem with two dog owners during our stay who failed to keep their dogs on leads, allowing them to roam the site and relieve themselves where they wished. We spoke to Ros about this issue and she assured us that she would remind them of their responsibilities. Despite this, the dog owners proceeded to exercise their animals by throwing balls down the site to be retrieved. When we challenged them about this we were met with a string of abuse. It did however result in their dogs being kept on leads for the rest of their stay, in accordance with Caravan Club guidelines. What a pity that some caravanners think that the rules do not apply to them. Most dog owners have more consideration!! Perhaps a sign at the gate would remind them of the policy for dogs.

How CLs should be

A lovely spacious site with good access and great views. Plenty of water and electric points. Ticks all the boxes and more for a CL. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Fabulous site, best we have stayed at.

We stayed for 2 weeks and were very lucky to have great weather. It is the most beautiful site, with great open spaces and all the best elements of the English countryside. The pitches are generous with good services. We had a warm and friendly welcome from Ros and Thomas. There is so much to see and do in the area and the village pub is excellent. Great dog walks . We would highly recommend this site and hope to return.

All we could want in a CL

I agree with the last reviewer, excellent site , warm welcome, quiet except am and pm when workers on the move but not very intrusive. We had the hot dry spell and the ground was very cracked but still good for pitching. There was some combining but finished just before night fall and owner did call to apologise next day, have to expect this on large arable farm in summer. Plenty of electric points about the field so plenty of pitching choice, and a bonus of water taps we could attach our hose to so plenty of water during the extremely hot weather . Good fields to walking for dogs. Saw deer and hare, plenty of bird life in the bushes too. Will use again if we are in the area, easy access to plenty of interesting places.
