just what the doctor ordered

Its been nearly 2 years since i last went out with the Caravan but alas this time im on my own as ive recently lost my lovely Wife in late December2020,,ive just arrived on site with my Daughter her Husband and teenage son in both our Caravans, hoping to find some forward thinking to my future on my own ,even though i have a lovely supportive family behind me The site owner Roz came to us just as we arrived, greeted us so kindly and pleasantly it was a very warm welcome, we chose a lovely spot for the 2 vans by the large pond by a couple of willow trees, this was the perfect place to relax and reflect on what i had recently lost, and i know my Wife would have really adored this site, I was able to remember all the good times of previous touring holidays that my Wife and I had ,So thanks to the owners of the site and the surroundings,I have come to appreciate what we have all around us and the future will get better ,I can only give full marks for this experience of such a peaceful site, very minimum farm noise practically none, wonderfull area and perfect owners, Just have a visit you wont be dissapointed and Thanks again to Roz & Thomas... Yours Sincerely Eric ...

Charming CL, Owners and Location

We have been meaning to visit this CL for a while. For one reason or another it never happened, until this weekend. Booking (phone and e mail) was straight forward. Directions in the book were good except in Oxhill you turn left, rather than go left. Don't worry if you overshoot as just outside the village there is a lay by you can U turn through or turn down Green Lane and you skip going through the village. Lovely long private drive with passing places leads you to the well signed CL. We were the fifth of five but there isn't a duff pitch on this huge CL. Plenty of EHU points and water taps around the edge of this expansive CL. It is meticulously maintained. Standard facilities for rubbish, recycling and elsan. Grey water goes in to the hedge. WiFi is brilliant. We arrived late evening and set up. The charming owner visited us in the morning to confirm all was in order and gave us an information pack including the WiFi password, towns and locations of interest and a map of the farm including public footpaths and walks in their bio-diverse planting areas. The locale is full of footpaths (footpaths running through the farm are well maintained and signed) from which the local villages can be visited. The area is stunning and we felt most welcome, despite the covid precautions. Tysoe has a wonderful village shop and a Post Office. Many pubs offer fayre from a pun lunch to a gourmet dinner. It is adult only but as the ditch which runs around one side of the CL is 6' dep this is sensible, well behaved dogs are allowed. This is a real, working farm and farm machinery is around a lot of the day but it isn't intrusive in the least and we were there during harvest time. This is one of those CLs that we will return to, just sorry it isn't open all year round!

Tranqulity!

August 2020 - a week stay. Huge site, occupants well spaced, alternative locations all with good water stand pipe and electric hook up. Virtually flat field, well mown, softish soil, with harder limestone about 6 inches down - ideal for coach bolts for awning fixing. Very helpful owners who appeared quickly and even supplied some eggs. Wonderful quiet site, 1 mile from nearest road, easy to find, nearby fields of wild flowers, excellent quite flat roads nearby for cycling, walking available. Certainly a site with no issues at all and one that we will be returning to - near the top of our list of CL's.and a bargain at this rate. The first 4 days at 35c then storms which quickly drained away - no chance of getting bogged down here! A puzzling lack of bird wild life but a perfect retreat for humans. Very well done Ros and Thomas! Brian

One of the best

My wife and I stayed at Kirby Farm CL from for a week from 25 July 2020. It was nothing less than delightful. The owners were away for a short break when we arrived, but the grass was being cut and the very chatty gent driving the mower immediately came to see if we needed any help, then went off to inform the owners Mum that we had arrived. She was shortly with us with a very helpful hand out about the site and area and like everyone we met related to the site extremely pleasant and helpful. The Cl is set in a large field, with closely cut grass and a choice of screened pitches mainly with EHU and water tap. Gray water can be dropped into the ditch. Toilet emptying and rubbish are neatly sited. in a pathed and fenced enclosure. The area is very pleasant with some lovely villages to explore and major tourist spots like Stratford and Evesham within easy reach. We will definitely be back.

Straight into my top ten list of sites!

We have just returned from a couple of nights stay at Kirby Farm and thought we should write a little review of this lovely CL. Kirby Farm has easy access along a concrete road 500 or so metres long. It is fairly narrow but has plenty of passing places. Being a busy working farm there is some traffic about both early morning and around tea time. Not much between times. The camping ground is a large gently sloping grass field surrounded by hedges and a stream. There is also an unfenced pond so parents of young children should be aware (& owners of water loving Labradors such as ours). Although visiting after a lengthy period of wet weather we were still able to drive across the field and site our caravan without difficulty. There are no designated pitches and were told when we booked to pick anywhere in the field near a suitable EHU. There are plenty of water taps. A chemical WC waste disposal point and dustbins screened off by panel fencing and a dog poo bin also nearby. As the camping field is so big, what traffic there was had no impact on us at all. The site and farm in general is immaculate. The grass is obviously mown frequently. We were given a printed info. pack from the farm office which listed various places to visit along with details of the local pub and village shop. There was also a map of the farm with footpaths marked. Kirby Farm is a great base for visiting the Cotwolds area being quite close to Shipton on Stour, Morerton in Marsh and Stow on the Wold, Stratford upon Avon etc. Another place well worth a visit is the Arboretum at Batsford (just outside Moreton in Marsh). We will certainly be visiting again (after our problem our water heater is either fixed or replaced) because this CL is well worth it. As I mentioned in the title, Kirby farm has gone into my top ten of sites to stay on!

A perfect CL

Exactly as described! A spacious, well kept CL with lovely views and plenty of room to spread out. Excellent location and would definitely recommend the British Motor Museum for petrol heads and The Chequers pub at Ettington for excellent quality food. Unfortunately did not get time to visit The Peacock Inn but it did look nice from the outside! Ideally placed for our visit the Caravan Show at NEC, only an hour away! Will definitely return next summer!

Fantastic Location with Great Owners

Kirby Farm is probably one of the most idyllic locations you will find in England. It is a huge well kept site with ample space and large gaps between vans. Electric and water hook is easily accessible and once you have decided where to pitch, you can begin to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. We have just had our 3rd visit and we just love the space and tranquility. Great walks for dogs on local public footpaths and even better is The Peacock in Oxhill with great food and drink. Finally, Tom and Ros are fantastic hosts - friendly, warm and welcoming. I would rather keep Kirby Farm a secret for selfish reasons but if you get a chance to visit, I highly recommend it.

Weekend Break with friends

What a fantastic site everything about it is great, lovely views, friendly and helpful owners, large pitches which drained well considering the torrential rain we experienced whist staying there. We all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Everything we wanted

Just returned from 4 nights at Kirby Farm and all that we had read from earlier reviews was right. We were welcomed on site by Ros and Tom who were very friendly and accommodating . Ros said she would call back when we were set up and talk us through the welcome pack, which she did brilliantly. The weather was not as kind as we had hoped and torrential rain was a frequent visitor, but that did not pose any problems getting on or off site even though I do not have a 4x4. The site itself is spacious and the power and water supplies well positioned, so if you want isolation you can have it. Peace and tranquility what more could you want, we shall certainly return.

Wonderful Site.

Kirby Farm Caravan Site is all that we required to finish a two week jaunt of 1560 miles, including Scotland, the Lakes, East Yorkshire and Warwickshire. Tom & Ros are charming people and nothing was too much trouble for them. The farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and with Shakespear themes in Stratford upon Avon there was plenty for the theatre goers to see. For the more mechanically minded The British Motor Museum is at Gaydon is a must, as is Vulcan bomber XM655 at Wellesbourne Airfield usually open to visitors on most Saturdays. The nearby hamlet of Oxhill has a Pub/Restraunt called The Peacock which serves a nice pint of Doombar bitter. About a mile from the site is the village of Tysoe which has a well stocked village store. The site is approximately half a mile from the main road on a well maintained concrete drive with passing places. While we were at Kirby the weather was very damp, but the owners kindly offered us another night on site at their expense due to the possible difficulty in moving our rig. We declined this kind offer, so Thomas had us towed off-site to continue our journey home. I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Kirby Farm to other CL users. Thanks Tom & Ros.
