Great CL for N Yorks dales

I would simply say that I fully endorse previous positive reviews for this CL which is outstanding. Customer service is excellent. As an example being a very wet weekend when I stayed and having a front wheel drive tow car the owner used his 4x4 to move my caravan off the grass for me which saved so much hassle as well as any concern which would have played on my mind during our stay. The site itself is well maintained and a brilliant base to explore from as well as being close to Northallerton. Excellent dog walking from the site I've already worked out my dates to visit again....

A cold weekend but warm hosts

Stayed on this CL site early February, and when I say cold the wind tho not strong was biting. On arrival ( very small lane and luckily no oncoming traffic ) the site owner was straight out to greet us, mentioning that a previous visitor was staying on for longer than expected so they had quickly made another hard pitch for us, tho difficult to access from the soft ground onto the raised hard standing it was level. The views am sure all year round will be forever changing, we visited in the midst of winter and still looked spectacular. It is a working farm but no noise or disturbance not any from the A19 which is visible in the distance. Only issue for ourselves was the water freezing both in our Aqua roll and the pipes feeding the site. That said with the basic but clean shower room and a visit to supermarket to purchase bottled water then all fine. At only 30mins from home then a great little find for a quick weekend getaway and we booked again for a visit in the spring.

Excellent CL

As previously reviewed this CL has stunning views, peaceful surroundings and spacious pitches. The owners are very welcoming and eager to help you if you need it. The main reason I have written this review is to put right the situation with regards the shower. It is located in a breeze block building adjacent to the barn. This contains the shower, toilet, hand basin and sink unit - great hot water supply to taps. The room has tiled walls and a tiled floor. The shower itself is in a plastic enclosure and is an electric shower. It is kept very clean by the owner. We used the shower several times and the water temperature was consistent and the flow steady. Yes, it looks basic and compared with a club site shower it is basic but this has to be taken in context. You are in a CL costing £12 a night and, bearing this in mind, the facilities are very good. If you want a fancy shower with piped music, heating etc don't go to a CL - pay out the money and go elsewhere. This is a great CL in a beautiful location and I fully recommend it to real caravaner's.

Lovely Views

i agree with all previous reviews, the owners look after you and the site very well. The views from the site are excellent both north and south, close to the A19 but no traffic noise at all. The only thing that stops it being given 5 star overall is that the wc/shower facilities need a tiny bit of updating but they are kept lovely and clean. this is a CL I will certainly use again and recommend. I recommend that any arrivals follows the suggested approach directions.

Stunning Views

Very scenic campsite, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. On arrival an information board with all you need to know is situated at the entrance. The owners make you very welcome, but are clearly busy with their farming business. Great access to both the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the coast. The toilet and shower block is a little dated and basic; hot and cold running water, washing up facilities and it is clean. Lovely walks with the dogs.

Hope to return

After reading previous reviews was sceptical however we really like this site. The grass was well tended and there was even a hard standing pitch which we used. Grass was well tended and short. There are clear instructions for arrival and the owners called to check we were ok. The toilet and shower facilities were a little dated but apart from a few cobwebs were clean and well stocked with paper etc. There was even a washing up sink in the room. From previous review you would think this was in a hovel but it is in a little brick built building at the end of the field with proper toilet and washbasin. The shower is in a painted tin cubicle which does show some signs of corrosion but was clean and perfectly serviceable. The views from the site are great and there is good walking in the area - although some of the landowners do not seem to know their responsibilities for keeping footpaths clear and we came across a number of obstacles. Also the site is on a working farm so there is some machinery noise and being only 1/2 mile from A19 some road noise.

Open all year ? Are you sure!

We booked on the site and when we arrived there was nobody around and we didn't see the owners the whole of our stay. We hope we were in the right place as we didn't see any caravan club signs and left the money in their letter box. The grass on the site was very long and made it hard to walk anywhere. The toilet ... was 70's style (we don't mind that) but it wasn't clean and the window was falling to bits, there were still dead bugs everywhere and daughter couldn't undo the lock. The shower was made of tin (rusty) and we wouldn't even use it for the dog. It is a shame the facilities and long grass let the site down. The site was nice and peaceful and the views are stunning. There is also a footpath close by, although wellies are recommended.

On arrival there had been a car accident on the very bad country lane leading to the site, and weather was atrocious. Got to site just one small field very difficult to get van swang around and positioned. For some reason electric not working, eventually got it working. We normally chose a site if dogs are allowed and if there is a shower.... this advertises a shower . But it is seriously disgraceful....it is a shed at the bottom of the field that needs knocking down...it is filthy, full of dead bugs, not very sanitary and is quite vile. I know im complaining but that is my perogative.... I wouldnt say there is a shower and keep it in this condition , the owners obviously dont step foot in it literally.  The location is beautiful and the site is cheap but we have travelled around and i would rather pay extra for a little comfort if needed...
