Good dry weather site

Good location for Chester and surrounding attractions, Caroline is extremely helpful and supplied all the information you could need including bus details and times for getting into Chester, easy access to the site but limited hard standing in wet weather which it was when we stayed unfortunately the grass area of the site was unusable and the driveway to the site flooded at one point, probably a better site for the summer but definitely not a wet weather site it did the job for us though for two nights.

Peaceful site

We have stayed at this site several times when visiting family. There is some background traffic noise from a nearby central road into Chester however it is much quieter than other sites around the area and is generally peaceful. Easy to book with Caroline who is always prompt at replying to queries and checks in by phone to ensure there are no problems. The ground can be quite soft especially after rain although we've never had a problem moving around the site (we have a small caravan), motorhomes should stay on the hardstanding area. There is an excellent pub for food and drinks a two minute walk away and a convenience store and garage nearby too.

Ideal for visiting Chester

We booked a 4 night stay so as to visit Chester and in particular the Christmas Market. We booked by email and Caroline sent a very detailed email in return containing lots of useful information as well as instructions as to where we were to pitch up etc. Being a motorhome we pitched up on the large hardstanding - which is perfectly big enough for two units. Chester is easily accessible by bike and bus. Our first visit was by bike. We planned our route using our Ordnance Survey map. Fortunately there are lots of National Cycle Routes in the area and the one we chose took us in via the pretty village of Christleton and then on to the cycle route that took us in via the canal. Our circular ride back brought us back through Great Barrow. The following day we planned a route through Tarporley and Tarvin - and back on the NCR71 which took us over the medieval bridges - which are worth a visit as they too are very pretty. To visit the Christmas Market we chose to go in by bus. There is a good bus service into Chester from the top of Cotton Lane on the A51 - a 10 minute walk from the CL. There are two bus companies that run buses into Chester - the number 82 run by D&G and the number 84 run by Arriva. The number 82 runs past the hour and is cheaper than its competitor which runs to the hour. The latter also has a service that runs into the evening - whereas the D&G bus only runs until just after 5. The last 84 bus back leaves the Chester bus interchange just before 9pm. The Stamford Bridge pub is very nice - we didn't have a meal there - but we did pop in for a drink after our day visiting the Christmas Market. The Christmas Market was very small and not as big as we were hoping. The Cathedral was worth a visit especially as it was gearing up for the Christmas Tree Festival. There were lots of trees in situ but the decoration of them was a work in progress - but enough were lit and decorated so as to give a very "Christmassy" atmosphere. For walkers there is a lovely walk to Great Barrow and back through the fields. The circular route we took was just over 3 miles long and enough to blow off the cobwebs after our 3 hour drive to get to the CL. I have given the CL 4 stars for peace and tranquility due to the road noise. Situated just off the A51 the road noise wasn't too bad through the night - but from 6 in the morning you could definitely hear the commuter traffic. The CL does overlook fields, but is mainly surrounded by high hedges. The access to the CL could be a problem if there are lots of customers to the businesses at the access - but fortunately we had no problems. Because of its vicinity to Chester this is a great CL to use for visiting the city. We will definitely use it again as we would like to visit in the summer months and see more that this particular part of Cheshire has to offer.  The price of the CL was £15 a night and not £13 as advertised.

Enjoyable stay for my First stay on a CL site as a new member

Spoke to Caroline when I booked my stay, She was very helpful providing me with buses we could catch and all the details of the local Restaurant. She sent me an e-mail with all the places we could visit. It is lovely and quiet and we stayed for 4 nights. Would use the site if we go again in that area,

Emergency stay4-7May 2018

We had to get up to Chester to see a very ailing Mother-in-law and looked around for sites but Chester being Chester on a bank holiday and every where was full, except.... I looked on line at the site and the reviews and decided it was good for a stay. I didn't check the book to see the facilities etc on site, and didn't question the owner when I booked, so when I turned up and there wasn't a toilet/shower block I was a bit shocked. I have been molly-coddled by using Certified Sites. The site was nice, clean and small, just about right for 5 vans, the ground slightly soft because of the weather. There is a very nice pub very near to the site and a local Spar/Subway about 2-300yds away. I met Mrs Johnson on our second day and paid her the due amount. A very pleasant and chatty lady, and although I was in a bit of a hurry I stopped and talked to her for about 15 mins. All in all we enjoyed our stay there. Whether or not we stay there or at another CL depends on how we feel about our main comforts in life but if I did I would be very happy to go back there. The access is a bit tight but there is a caravan storage area right next to the site so plenty of people with varying sizes of cars and 'vans have managed it in the past.

Good Stopover

Stayed for 2 nights on our way home from Wales to visit Chester. Site easy to find and we had a pleasant stay, well screened from adjacent timber merchants, bus stop only a few minutes walk away, we would stay here again.

Booked one night but stayed two

As the title states we just booked one night but ended up staying for two so the site must be ok. A small clean flat site with a good view over farm land after what looks like a recent trimming of a thick hedge that helps give a open feel to the site other hedges help hide stored caravans. Some slight road noise but no problem. Owners are very trusting as you just leave your site fee in a box. Good recycling facilities plus chemical point etc. Will use again when we are in the Chester area. Many thanks

Pleasant 3 Night Break (May 2015)

Easy to find site and no problems with the entry track. Parked on one of the two hardstandings, remainder was well kept grass. Very handy for bus to Chester and 10 mins from Cheshire Oaks retail outlet. Good pub within 300yds with good food and well kept Real Ales. Overall we enjoyed our stay which was peaceful with good satellite reception for TV. Will use this CL again.

We did not stay here

We had booked on this site to spend a few nights in the Chester area, on our way home from West Wales. After 2-3 hours travelling we found the site, as per the instructions, with no problems.   After having to maneuver the caravan very carefully  around the building , past the storage yard which involved a narrow entrance, and 2 tight right angle turns we got to the CL, what a let down for us.  The 4 vans already on this small site were spread out  which left us with one dark , dingy, small space hardly big enough for the proverbial cat swinging.  Not for us, so not being able to find a close by alternative at short notice we made our way home cutting our trip short.
